HORSETOBER STARTS THURSDAY!

This October, Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project is proud to join Horses for Mental Health in celebrating HORSETOBER — a month dedicated to the powerful connection between horses and people.

For the humans and horses benefiting from our programs at Samson’s Strength , that connection can mean so much more. A horse can provide a quiet place to reconnect, rebuild trust, find confidence, and sometimes simply be still. A human can provide comfort, care and connection for horses - especially those who have experienced neglect or abuse by other humans in the past.

Throughout October, we’re joining the #PassTheBraid movement and encouraging other equine programs, veterans, friends, family supporters to take part- ITS EASY!!

1. Connect - Spend meaningful time with a horse.
2. Create - Make a braid on your horse, in your hair, or however you choose.
3. Share - Post a photo and tell what your connection to horses means to you.
4. Pass it on - Nominate others and keep the braid moving.

Here at Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project, Inc a 501-c3 we see the impact these incredible animals make every day!! This October, let’s help more people see it too.

Our first share is Orion! Orion came to us in very poor condition- both physically and emotionally. He and his “brother from another mother “ were rescued from an auction where sadly horses go to die- not thrive. Thanks to the support of Babbie Styslinger they were rescued and brought to our farm- here you can see the BEFORE- 2 years ago when they first arrived and the AFTER- today. What a whirlwind of a day!! Spent the day in Birmingham- stopped by WBRC 6 News and had an opportunity to chat with Sheldon on air about Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project, Inc a 501-c3 !! Talked about the farm, the horses, and the Field Of Flags 2026!!! Shout out to Clay County News about the Veterans in Clay county and the flag display to show the over 1,000!!
