I’ve been quiet here for a while.

Not because I stepped away — because I got heads-down.
Client work picked up in a way I didn’t fully expect, and every spare hour outside of that went into finishing something I’ve been sitting with for a long time: a book on metabolic fitness that finally feels close to done.

So instead of a quick re-intro, I wanted to actually tell you where the silence went.

Over the last few months:
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
→ My practice grew in a way that forced me to rethink how I work, not just how much I work

→ I kept showing up for clients while quietly building the book in whatever hours were left

→ I started thinking harder about what I actually want the next few years of this work to look like — beyond 1:1 sessions, beyond the inbox

I’m coming back to LinkedIn with something a little different from before. Less “here’s a tip,” more “here’s what 18 years of clinical + CBT work actually looks like in practice” — what shifts for people, what doesn’t work no matter how good the plan is, and what I’m building next because of it.

More on the book soon. More on what comes after it, too.

For now — good to be back.

I had the opportunity to conduct one-on-one sessions with parents and neurodivergent children — and it reinforced something I see repeatedly in clinical practice:
Feeding is rarely “just about food.”
For many neurodivergent children, eating involves sensory processing, oral-motor skills, predictability, emotional regulation, environment, and the parent-child interaction dynamic — all working together at the same time.
During the sessions, we worked on practical, evidence-informed feeding strategies, including:
• Managing food pocketing safely and effectively
• Transitioning from one food texture to another gradually
• Identifying age-appropriate feeding milestones
• Introducing new foods without creating distress or resistance
• Building a more balanced and nutritionally adequate dietary pattern
• Reducing mealtime pressure and negative associations with food

One of the most important conversations today was not only about the child’s behaviour — but also the parent’s response to that behaviour.

When feeding difficulties persist, parents naturally become anxious, frustrated, or fearful that their child is “not eating enough.” But children are highly responsive to emotional energy during meals.

Progress in pediatric feeding challenges is often slow, layered, and non-linear. But with consistency, structured exposure, patience, and the right guidance, meaningful improvement is absolutely possible.
What parents often need most is not judgment — but education, reassurance, and a clear strategy.
As clinicians, our role is not simply to prescribe nutrition.
It is to help families create safer, calmer, and more sustainable relationships with food.
A special thank you to Swapna Koshy for the opportunity, the collaborative environment, and for the meaningful work being done at Esperanza to support children and families with compassion and evidence-based care.

Why is a woman so often reduced to her body… and her weight?

Recently, Patralekha was spotted just days after delivery. Within minutes, the conversation wasn’t about her health, her journey, or her strength—it was about how she looked.

Pause and think.

A woman’s body goes through one of the most powerful transformations during pregnancy and childbirth. It stretches, heals, nurtures life… and yet, we rush to judge it.

Why do we expect “snapbacks” instead of recovery?
Why do we measure worth in inches and kilos?

This isn’t just about celebrities. It’s about every woman who has ever been made to feel “not enough” because of her body.

Maybe it’s time we change the narrative:

✨ From “How does she look?” → “How is she feeling?”
✨ From “Did she lose weight?” → “Is she healing well?”
✨ From judgment → empathy

A woman is more than her body.
More than her weight.
More than a moment captured in a photo.

Let’s start seeing her for her strength, her story, and her humanity. 💛

A recent article by NDTV on the rising use of Semaglutide for weight loss — even in the context of weddings — raises an uncomfortable but important question:

Are we starting to commoditise health?

As a clinician, I see two very different narratives emerging:

On one side, medications like semaglutide are powerful, evidence-based tools for managing obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. In the right patient, under medical supervision, they can be life-changing.

But on the other side…
We are quietly normalising a culture where:
• Weight loss is urgent, aesthetic, and event-driven
• Hunger is seen as something to suppress, not understand
• Food is no longer nourishment — but a coping mechanism
• And children are watching all of this unfold

This is where the concern lies.

If the next generation grows up believing:
👉 “There’s an injection to fix my weight”
instead of
👉 “I need to understand my relationship with food, hunger, and my body”

…we are not solving the problem.
We are simply medicalising a behavioural and environmental crisis.

Weight gain today is not just about calories.
It is a systems issue:
• Constant food availability
• Reward-driven eating patterns
• Stress, sleep disruption, screen exposure
• Loss of food structure and family food culture

And yet, the solution being scaled is — a quick physiological override of appetite.

Let’s be clear:

This is not about being “for” or “against” medication.

This is about context.

Because when a clinical tool becomes a cosmetic shortcut,
we risk creating:
• Nutritional gaps
• Poor long-term food behaviours
• Psychological dependency on “quick fixes”

As health professionals, parents, and educators —
we need to understand
The real intervention is slower, less glamorous — but far more powerful:
• Teaching children how to eat, not just what to eat
• Building structured meal environments
• Normalising physical activity
• Addressing emotional reliance on food
