Ivy’s championship tournament is today. During her turn on the bench, her shoe is in a knot and she’s struggling to get it worked out. I’m looking back and forth between Ivy and the game, my panic rising with hers, hoping they won’t need to rotate her in before she gets it fixed. The whistle blows for the next rotation, and I look at her face. Seconds from meltdown…but who is already running behind the court toward the bench? Not all heroes wear capes. (Won the game in two sets, and the next game in two sets. Championship at 3. Go Storm) @hazel_gkeeper09 by @sav1981

First challenging games with a new team, and Hazel’s old friends and teammates from Dallas happened to be at the same event. They showed up for her BIG. Loudest cheering section you’ve ever heard in the sweltering heat. We are happy in our new home, but some things can’t be replicated or replaced. We 💚and miss our Dallas soccer family so much! #needswork @sheabuttermarie @goosey.loosey83 @myfam_389 @definitely_notbella9 @simplysyd_xp @terrancewackett @skinnyoli @thatdude_jw @hazel_gkeeper09 @marcie2608 @skinnymeg31 by @sav1981

Happy International Goalkeeper’s Day to the best one I know. This year has been full of BIG changes and you have handled every challenge with more courage than the one before. Never forget you are a light in this world. Keep making waves. WWND. @beans_keeper2009 by @sav1981

First varsity game in the bag. Didn’t make it on the field, but she was the only 🐠 on the roster. Called at the half because of “the weather” for a 6-0 win for Kingwood💚⚽️🥅🧤 @beans_keeper2009 by @sav1981

KHS JV Blue squad took the dub in a varsity tournament! Hazel and her defense shut out all three games. Have a great season and go mustangs! @beans_keeper2009 @khs.girls.soccer by @sav1981

@beans_keeper2009 broke out of the goal in the last tournament game today, after an uneventful first half, and put one in the net with her left foot. We feel so lucky to have landed with @khs.girls.soccer. Thanks for all those years of shoving her on the field, @wizardofoz2134. by @sav1981

Because of a delay in Arkansas, we missed our connecting flight by 5 minutes. Not sure we’re making it home tonight… by @sav1981
