American soldiers in the Vietnam War faced brutal conditions unlike anything many had experienced before. They fought through dense jungles, extreme heat, monsoon rains, disease, and an enemy that often relied on guerrilla tactics, ambushes, traps, and hidden tunnel systems. Many soldiers were extremely young often in their late teens or early twenties and endured constant fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Those who returned home frequently carried lasting physical and psychological effects from the war. by @saveroku

The Viet Cong (VC) were a communist led guerrilla force that fought against South Vietnam and the United States during the Vietnam War. Formally associated with the National Liberation Front, they operated mainly in South Vietnam and relied on guerrilla tactics such as ambushes, booby traps, tunnels, and surprise attacks. They received substantial support from North Vietnam and sought to overthrow the South Vietnamese government and reunify Vietnam under communist rule. by @saveroku

Vietnamese women played major roles during the Vietnam War, both as civilians and active participants. Many worked as nurses, farmers, factory workers, and caregivers, while others served as soldiers, guerrilla fighters, couriers, and members of support networks. Women on all sides endured displacement, bombing, loss, and severe hardship, while often keeping families and communities functioning throughout the conflict. by @saveroku
