"Behind every number in this crisis is a child.”

In Lebanon, our President & CEO Danny Glenwright saw firsthand how conflict is taking so much from children: their homes, their schools, and sometimes their sense of safety.

Alongside families, Save the Children staff are helping bring some of that back through child-friendly spaces, psychosocial support, and a place where children can simply be kids again.

Not all the dangers of war are seen.

Behind the headlines of bombs and bullets, another crisis grows quietly: hunger. Conflict forces families from their homes, destroys farmland and cuts children off from the food, healthcare and nutrition they need to grow and thrive.

Today, 70% of people facing acute hunger live in fragile or conflict-affected countries.

But hunger is a crisis we can solve. Together with local partners, we’re working alongside communities to treat malnutrition, support families with food and cash assistance, and keep children connected to healthcare.

Alice* is 13 and dreams of becoming a doctor.

At school in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she’s learning how to protect her community from Ebola: washing hands with soap and clean water, keeping distance, and getting anyone who falls ill to hospital quickly.

Since May, about seven children a day have died of Ebola in #DRCongo. That’s a full classroom every three days.

With support from Save the Children, Alice* can keep learning in a safer, more stable environment, and teachers are trained to share accurate information about Ebola.

This #GlobalHandwashingDay, we stand with children like Alice* who are leading the way. 🧼💙

Math can be tough. But what if learning it felt like play? 🐚✏️

In #Mexico, children like Jaime, 11, and Andrea, 9, are learning Mayan mathematics, where a shell means zero, a stick means five, and a small stone means one.

It’s hands-on, it’s fun, and it connects children to their culture, their knowledge and their identity.

As Andrea says, she wants to learn even more.

We brought an empty swing to Parliament Hill.

It stood for every child whose childhood has been stolen by war. Children who should be playing, learning and dreaming, but instead are living through conflict.

And Canadians showed up. Over two days, people stopped, reflected and added their names, because they believe every child deserves to be safe and free to just be a child.

Children are paying the highest price in today’s wars. We can’t look away, and we can’t stay silent. Canada must step up to protect them.

Add your name and help us stop the war on children - link in bio.

Child marriage rates have declined globally, helping avert an estimated 68 million child marriages over the past 25 years. Yet every year, 12 million girls are still married before they turn 18.

On International Day of the Girl, young women across Africa are launching #NeverBefore18 to demand stronger action to end child marriage and gender-based violence.

Girls are not waiting for change. They're leading it. It's time to listen to their voices, invest in their potential, and support their dreams. Learn more by clicking the link in bio.

One year ago, a ceasefire was agreed in #Gaza. One year on, it is a ceasefire in name only.

Palestinians, including children, are still being killed and injured by Israeli forces every single day. Lifesaving aid, medical supplies, and the equipment and building materials families need to repair and rebuild are still being blocked from entering.

This is not a ceasefire.

We cannot allow the killing and deprivation in Gaza to be normalized under the cover of an agreement. Every child in Gaza has the right to safety, to health care, and to a future.

The international community’s responsibility does not end with an agreement on paper. We call on the Canadian government to make protection for children and families in Gaza real.

Seeing this mural come to life in person during was such a moving and beautiful experience.

Brick by brick, the public came together and built up not only this mural but a wall of love, strength, support and inspiration.

Thank you to all the people I never met who spent the time to stand in line and contribute to this beautiful experience.

A child with a fever. A family afraid to ask for help. A classroom that sits empty.

This is what an Ebola outbreak looks like for children. The danger isn't only the virus itself, it's everything it takes away: their health, their caregivers, their schooling, and the safety of home.

Save the Children is working alongside communities to stop the spread and keep children protected. That means helping families prevent infection, finding and referring cases quickly, sharing trusted health information, and making sure children can still access the care and services they rely on.

Every child has the right to grow up healthy and safe. Together, we can help children and families get through this outbreak and come out stronger on the other side.

Brick by brick, #Toronto, we built something together. 🧱❤️

At Nuit Blanche, hundreds of individual pieces came together to reveal a portrait inspired by Messie, 15, from Sierra Leone, and the work of our Foundations project.

Foundations is a project by Save the Children and funded by the Global Affairs Canada. It helps girls and young women in Sierra Leone, Mali and Niger build confidence, access adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health information and services, make their voices heard and shape their own futures.

Just like the mural, lasting change is built piece by piece. Every brick represented part of that foundation, and every message from the Toronto community became part of the finished artwork.

Thank you to @april_showers_art, City of Toronto, and everyone who added their piece. 💛
