🌿 Hard of Hearing: The Posture of a Hardened Heart 🌿

In life, we often face the struggle of being spiritually “hard of hearing”—unable or unwilling to listen to God’s voice. It’s easy for our hearts to become hardened, just like in the story of King Hazael (2 Kings 8:7-15), who ignored God’s message of warning. 💔

Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they didn’t recognize the time of their visitation (Luke 19:41). Isaiah reminds us that we can be “despised and rejected” when we refuse to listen to God’s call (Isaiah 53:3). But there’s hope—today, we can choose a different posture.

Let’s open our hearts, soften our ears, and listen to the still small voice of God that brings peace (Romans 5:1) and healing to our souls. 💫

🕊️ Beseech or Besieged: How to Respond to God’s Merciful Judgement 🕊️

When we face God’s judgement, whether through personal trials, societal struggles, or spiritual famine, our response matters. In times of crisis, we have a choice:

🔹 Beseech (Ask for Mercy):
Just like the people in 2 Kings 6-7 who were surrounded by famine and siege, God calls us to seek His mercy. Humble ourselves in prayer and repent. Trust that His mercy is greater than the judgement we deserve (Lev. 26:40-46).

🔹 Besieged (Suffer the Consequences):
When we harden our hearts and turn away from God’s commands, the consequences are severe (Deut. 28:52-57). God’s justice, though hard, is always righteous. But even then, His mercy is never far, if we turn back to Him.

Temporary Blindness: Believing is Seeing 👓

In scripture, moments of temporary blindness reveal profound truths about God’s love and protection.

2 Kings 6:1-23: Elisha’s servant, fearful of their enemies, discovers a heavenly army when God opens his eyes. Sometimes, we need divine perspective to see the truth!

Romans 8:31-39: Paul reminds us that if God is for us, nothing can stand against us. In our darkest moments, His love shines through and assures us of victory.

Romans 12:9-21: We’re called to love genuinely, even in conflict. Overcoming evil with good helps us see beyond our immediate struggles and brings light into the darkness.

Luke 24:13-35: On the road to Emmaus, two disciples fail to recognize Jesus. It’s in fellowship and breaking bread that their eyes are opened—reminding us of the importance of community in faith.

In 2 Kings 4:38–5:27, we see the story of Elisha, a prophet who demonstrates God’s power and guidance in moments of great need. Through miracles, Elisha shows the people that God’s provision is above all, even when situations seem hopeless. In these moments, the people are reminded to look to God first for help and trust in His divine wisdom, rather than relying on their own solutions or the world’s advice.

Similarly, in 1 Timothy 1:4–7 and 1 Timothy 6:3–10, Paul advises Timothy to avoid distractions, arguments, and the pursuit of wealth, which can pull believers away from true faith. He warns against the love of money and self-centered ambitions, pointing out that the desire for riches can lead to all kinds of harm and temptation. Paul encourages Timothy—and all believers—to seek contentment in God rather than the material things of the world.

Both passages remind us that putting God above all else—before people, possessions, and personal desires—leads to true peace, wisdom, and purpose. We’re called to rely on Him as our ultimate provider and to trust His guidance, knowing that His ways are higher than our own.
