What a wonderful opportunity to talk design and inspiration with the guest at @lapubliclibrary . This was a full circle moment for me, as the library has been a pivotal asset throughout my career.

1.PAIRING

Unintentionally accessorizing is the main component to pairing.

When traveling by foot, commuters sometimes have to be prepared to haul items they’ve collected on the way or remove items they’re using. I refer to this concept as unintentionally accessorizing.

This inevitability creates a world of design possibilities for me. Uniquely repurposing your extra layered clothing when it gets too hot, to pushing a stroller, or commuting with groceries can all take form in the concept of unintentionally accessorizing. For me, grocery bags can replace the visual idea of a handbag. Or when tying extra clothing to your body, can sometimes replace the visual idea of a belt or shoulder bag.

Pairing informs my approach to garment shaping and general styling techniques. by @saw__usa
