We’re working on a special edition of Say it en voz Alta. The focus here is not political-it’s psychological. We’re talking about the trauma these raids have caused: the symptoms, the fear, the silent suffering, both immediate and long-term. In some cases, undocumented parents may have stayed indoors for days, skipped work, or changed their routines in fear of ICE. Their children—many of them U.S. citizens— witnessed all of this. And even if they were never targeted directly, that kind of exposure can leave deep, lasting emotional scars.
This isn’t just about what’s happening now. It’s about what’s passed down-how fear and trauma can be inherited. We’re exploring how entire generations, including American citizens with immigrant families, might carry resentment or anxiety toward the very institutions meant to protect them. This is not a momentary crisis.
