it’s D-day! And today’s final culture countdown fact is slightly different, Christmas in black history is complex and involves many instances of Black Activism, a resistance against oppression and discrimination dating back thousands of years. As part of this resistance, black households tend to opt to donating towards community-based organizations and causes during this period of giving. ⛪️🎄

In honour of this tradition, we are taking the opportunity to highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, which is not garnering as much attention on mainstream media.

The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which erupted in April 2023, has devastated communities, displaced millions and exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis.

We will be printing QR codes linking to UN’s donation site and placing them at the venue. We will also give those who come without food the option to donate to the UN for entry into the venue.

Let’s all have a great and meaningful time with one another and share the spirit of giving, not just for one another but also for a good cause. ✨🤍

Every little bit counts.

WHO IS J DILLA ❓

Some of you guys might’ve seen this during Dilla Night, for those that haven’t or weren’t there on the night, we’re making a post for the Dilla Pamphlet that was up during Dilla Night 🍩

A brief rundown of some of the information on the enigmatic producer JayDee aka J Dilla. We hope this can serve as a starting reference for first time listeners of Dilla and a service for the fans. We edited and added additional pages to the pamphlet so do take a look even if you’ve already read it on the event day 😁 by @saywhatcypher
