Yes, I’m really out here running like this at 65 years old! Honestly, I didn’t think I still had it in me, but once that adrenaline kicked in, it was game on. You couldn’t tell me nothing!

Having @dwightdagreat and @hurdle_holic hyping me up definitely helped bring out that competitive spirit.

Always remember: age should never determine how you live your life or what you can accomplish. Don’t let a number stop you from chasing your goals, trying something new, or doing what makes you happy. You can do anything you set your mind to, no matter how old you are.

The words “can’t” and “no” is NOT IN your vocabulary. Keep believing, keep pushing, and keep living your life to the fullest!

First and foremost, I give honor and praise to God. Without His guidance and ordering of my footsteps, none of this would have been possible. I thank Him from the depths of my heart for this incredible journey. What an extraordinary weekend it has been for The Sharrieffa Barksdale Track Foundation in my hometown, Harriman, and Roane County, Tennessee! The overwhelming support for all three events was nothing short of breathtaking.

A heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Carolyn Bush Ruddy for receiving The Sharrieffa Barksdale Track Foundation Lifetime Diamond Award. I would like to thank my late father, Marcellus Barksdale, and my mother, Carrie Barksdale, thank you for molding me into the woman I am today. To my sisters, my late siblings, your unwavering belief in me kept me going. You told me I could do it and I did!

The highlight of the reception was the chance for everyone to meet Olympians, World-Class athletes, Olympic medalists, American and World Record holders, and some of Hollywood’s upcoming actors and actresses.

The closing remarks from our Mistress of Ceremonies, Principal Chasity Lowery of Harriman High School, brought everything full circle as all the Olympians and alumni joined her on stage.

I want to thank Turning Knox Rental, you showed up and showed out!!!

The evening came to a crescendo when I, along with the Harriman High School Blue Devils, performed to the song (This Is Me)a powerful moment that encapsulated the heart and soul of this unforgettable weekend.

To our private donors, I cannot express my gratitude enough. Without your support, none of this would have happened so quickly. To everyone who purchased a brick, made a donation large or small your contributions truly matter. I am also deeply thankful to USATF for your ongoing support.

To my children, Gentel and Java, thank you for always pushing me and reminding me, “Mom, you got this!” Your love and encouragement mean the world to me.

I had to share this because it’s truly amazing to witness. When my best friend, @jjoynerkersee , first started this journey decades ago, she had a vision. Today, that vision has grown into an incredible campus that continues to serve her community every single day.

I remember bringing my Kentucky Diamonds/KD Boys to perform at her center years ago. She rolled out the red carpet. Seeing where it started and seeing what it has become today is nothing short of remarkable. That’s what hard work, faith, trust, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to your purpose can do. She didn’t just dream it, she built it.

Jackie, my dearest friend, I am beyond proud of you. You never stopped believing in your hometown, the children, or your community. You continue to pour into others with a heart full of love, and that’s what makes you the real deal…the true GOAT. 🐐🐐🐐

Your love for your community inspires me to do even more in mine. Someone believed in you, and you chose to give back. Someone believed in me, and I choose to give back. That’s how we create lasting change.

Your legacy speaks for itself, from being one of the greatest athletes in history, to motivating people around the world, to building the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center that continues to change lives. Your impact reaches far beyond the track.

Everyone should take notes. This is what giving back looks like. I love you, my friend, and I’m so grateful to watch your legacy continue to grow. ❤️

When @gentelsharrie called to tell me she had to sign an NDA because she had booked a commercial with a big-time celebrity, you already know I started trying to pressure her to tell me who it was! 😂😂😂

She wouldn’t budge, not one bit. She kept that secret all the way until it aired.

She was blessed to be featured in a Kevin Hart and Marshmallo (Burn Boot Camp fitness campaign commercial,) and the blessings just keep flowing.

Her success didn’t happen overnight. She has put in blood, sweat, and tears to get where she is today. For those who have followed her journey from childhood until now, you know just how hard this young lady has worked.

We truly appreciate all of your love and support throughout her journey. Thank you for believing in her. The best is yet to come! 🩵🩵 She’s living the dream.
