I recently met with our team at the Long Island State Veterans Home to talk about @StonyBrookMedicine’s ambulatory growth strategy and what it means for our patients and communities.

It was a great opportunity to share more about where we’re headed and, just as importantly, to hear the team’s questions and perspectives. Conversations like these are important as we continue to think about how we can expand access and strengthen care across our health system.

Thanks for having me! by @sbm_evp

Start your morning with a fresh cup of coffee and a brand-new episode of Morning Grounds, Morning Rounds! 🌅☕️🌅🩺

Dr. Judith Brown Clarke, Vice President for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Health Equity Officer for @StonyBrookU and @StonyBrookMedicine, joins me for an engaging conversation about what health equity really means, why climate is a health issue, and how Stony Brook is positioning itself at the forefront of both.

On NICU Awareness Day, I’m thinking about the smallest patients in our care, their families and the incredible people who are there for them every step of the way at @StonyBrookKids.

For families, having a baby in the NICU can be an experience filled with questions, uncertainty and a lot of emotions. Behind every baby is a team of incredible physicians, nurses and specialists working around the clock to give them the care they need and support their families along the way.

I’m so grateful to our NICU teams for the care they provide every day. Thank you for being there for these babies and their families when they need you most. taken in Stony Brook Medicine by @sbm_evp

Congratulations to @StonyBrookUniversityHospital’s Employee of the Month, Brian Potts, Video and Multimedia Specialist!

I have the pleasure of working with Brian on Morning Grounds, Morning Rounds, and a number of other projects, and I’ve seen firsthand how much creativity, thought and care he brings to everything he does. He’s always willing to jump in, problem-solve and help bring an idea to life.

In his own words:

“It is an absolute privilege to tell the stories of the incredible people at Stony Brook Medicine. Every day, I get to spotlight extraordinary doctors, surgeons, scientists, patients, staff, and our nurses (who I’m convinced are actively hiding their wings from me). Sharing their dedication, breakthroughs, and humanity with the rest of the world is easily the best part of what I do.”

Thank you for all that you do, Brian! We’re lucky to have you at @StonyBrookMedicine. taken in Stony Brook Medicine by @sbm_evp

When a baby is in the NICU, being able to stay connected can mean so much to a family.

I’m thrilled to share that Angel Eye camera technology is now available at @StonyBrookKids, giving parents and authorized family members a secure way to check in when they can’t be at the bedside.

It’s another way we’re using technology to support families while their babies receive the specialized care they need. Link in bio for more! by @sbm_evp

Sourdough September is a great reason to bake a fresh loaf of bread and add healthy, flavorful toppings. For our Morning Grounds, Morning Rounds filming, Josephine Connolly‑Schoonen, PhD, RD, created a few delicious spreads that made every bite even better. It was a pleasure having her in the kitchen with me!

Another year at the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons! 🇮🇹 Stony Brook Southampton Hospital was proud to return as a Gold Sponsor of the annual celebration in Hampton Bays.

It’s always a great opportunity to be out in the community we serve, connect with our neighbors and share more about the care and services available close to home.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and chat with our team!

Thank you to everyone who joined our September @StonyBrookMedicine All-Staff Town Hall last week!

We had some great presentations, including a look at our upcoming brand campaign, a lightning round on tick-borne disease research, and an update on our “digital front door” project, and it was wonderful to have our East End team members join us on screen through watch parties at both @StonyBrookSHH and @StonyBrookELIH. We were also thrilled to have the newest member of our team, Scout, join us for refreshments afterward!

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to join us, both in person and virtually. And a special thank you to the team behind the scenes who helps make this event possible every quarter! Twenty-five years later, Dr. Benjamin Luft still sees the unseen, hears the unheard and truly listens.

In a special episode of @StonyBrookU's Voices of Transparency and Excellence podcast, Benjamin Luft, MD, Director and Principal Investigator of the Stony Brook WTC Wellness Program, reflects on the responders who shaped his work, the lessons he has learned and the importance of giving people a voice.

"There’s so much inspiration that you derive from working and taking care of these remarkable people. For me, it wasn’t a job. It was a privilege. It enriched me. I’m better for it."

Twenty-five years later, we still remember where we were and how much changed on September 11, 2001. Today and always, we remember the lives lost, the families and communities forever changed, and the first responders who showed extraordinary courage and sacrifice that day and in the years that followed. May we never forget. by @sbm_evp
