🐇❤️ THANK YOU - WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT 2026 ❤️🐇

We have officially completed our short run of WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT, a truly one-of-kind theatrical experience.

The biggest thank you to those who came out to support what was quite possibly the most unique work that has been presented in Newcastle, your support meant the absolute world to all of us involved with the production. You had no clue what you were in for, much like Jack & Dez, but you bought a ticket and you came to see the show anyway, and for that we are eternally grateful.

Our 2026 season did not turn out as intended. Producing theatre is harder than ever, but we took a risk with this play, and it truly paid off. Thank you again to all those who came to see this work.

Special thank you to Jack Madden and Dez Robertson for your incredible performances and total willingness to take on such a crazy challenge. And to Miles Punch for being a great help, as always, with everything technical.

We now begin preparation for our 2027 season, which is already looking incredibly exciting with the previously announced SHAKESBEER: A DRUNKEN READING OF ROMEO & JULIET along with some very exciting titles that we will announce in due time!

If you did come along, be sure to keep the secret of what the show entails so everyone else can have the same blind experience as you. And who knows, maybe the Rabbit will be returning sooner than you think…

⭐️ MEET THE TEAM: SEB SMEE ⭐️

Seb Smee is an award-winning theatrical performer, producer & director from Newcastle, Australia.

Seb has been involved in the theatre industry since 2016, with involvement in over 50 productions & events. At just 15 years old, he began his journey into producing & directing. Since then, he has helmed a number of major productions, including the first Australian staging of DIANA: A TRUE MUSICAL STORY, CALVIN BERGER, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, TREASURE ISLAND, CHATROOM and IMPENDING EVERYONE.

As a performer, Seb made his extremely unofficial West End debut in 2025 as a proud audience participant in the renowned CABARET revival and the London Premiere of EVERY BRILLIANT THING - they’re the highest billed credits of his life. Other than that, his most notable credits include the titular role in both CALVIN BERGER and FRANK SPARROW respectively, the latter of which earning him a CONDA Award for ‘Leading Actor in a Play 18 & Under’. Other standout roles are ‘Marlin’ in FINDING NEMO: THE MUSICAL and ‘Professor Callahan’ in LEGALLY BLONDE.

Seb Smee is an award-winning theatrical performer, producer & director. He trained at Hunter Drama for almost 10 years, and was a 2024 graduate of the Hunter School of the Performing Arts, where he received the ‘Excellence in Directing Award’.

i cannot express how BEYOND grateful i am about every single thing that 2025 has brought me. what an incredible year to be a creative. i am so humbled by the opportunities provided to me and even more so the opportunities i have the honour of providing. what a joy. what a life.

👑🩷 THANK YOU - DIANA 2026 🩷👑

The palace gates have officially closed, and Hyde Entertainment’s Major Musical Production of DIANA has officially come to an end. This show challenged everybody involved immensely, and ended up becoming one of the most complex productions that the Playhouse has ever seen.

We want to thank the over ONE THOUSAND audience members who came out to support our show, as well as every single member of the cast & crew - none of this would have been possible without each and every one of you.

A Note From The Director, Seb Smee:
“As a creative, there are some shows you would give anything to work on. To even just have the opportunity to be inside the room while other people have the joy of collaborating on it. DIANA was one of those shows for me.

Now, I’ll admit, before coming across this show I knew very little about Princess Diana. Obviously I knew the key details; she was rushed into a loveless marriage at a young age and grew to defy the monarchy and create a legacy that continues to endure to this day... But that was it.

This production would never have made it to the stage without the immense support of a number of incredible people; Jack Madden, my theatrical partner in crime, who encouraged me to take a chance on this show when I worried what people would think. Olivia Prentice, an incredible human who jumped into the mammoth task of choreographing a musical for the very first time. Brooke Lidbury, who came on board last minute as the guiding light she always is. Lyndon, Miles & Nasi - an absolute dream trio of techies who, quite literally, made the show happen. All of these people and so many more, along with infinite support from my friends and family, have given me the chance to pursue my dream at such a young age, and for that - I am eternally grateful.

Lady Diana is an ever-lasting reminder to us all that our future is our design. Live the life you want to live, and never let somebody tell you what you can and cannot achieve.

Diana’s story didn’t end in 1997, and I can promise you that our DIANA story doesn’t end here either. Stay tuned, friends - we will light the world, together.”

🐝 THE BEE WILL BE NO MORE 🐝

Hyde Entertainment’s 2025 Major Musical Production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE at The Civic Theatre Playhouse, has officially come to an end.

A Note From The Director;
SPELLING BEE has been one of those rare shows where everything just clicks instantly. Even from initial discussions back at the start of last year all about which musical Hyde should produce in 2025, from the get-go, SPELLING BEE just made sense.

Working on this production has been nothing but an utter joy.
Having the chance to collaborate again with friends of the company as well as making magic with new faces has made for an experience like no other. There has been many times throughout the process, when we’ve been in the middle of a rehearsal, and I’ve just had to pause to look around and just fully embrace how lucky I am to be involved in a production with such a loving & talented team of people, on the stage and off.

There’s a million people I want to thank, and this show would not have been possible without every single one of them. Somebody who has become a very important part of the company is Jack Madden - jumping on board for SPELLING BEE right before starting rehearsals as not only ‘Panch’, but also Assistant Director - this show would have no legs without all his efforts.
Xavier Shaw & Miles Punch, your technical work is unmatched in this city and I am always so thrilled to be working by your sides.
Emma, coming on board the day before prod week as Stage Manager is insane, but you are SO incredible and we would not have had such a smooth-running show without you.

My final thank you, of course, has to go to the real hearts of Hyde - my parents, Tania & Jeremy Smee. Without the both of you, this show would LITERALLY not be happening. You’ve never stopped believing in my crazy ideas and I can never thank you enough for that.

This production is dedicated to all the “losers” out there, everybody who has ever felt like people doubted them, anyone who had a parent not show up to an important event, and most importantly, all the all the small kids with big dreams.
