Congrats to Associate Dean Brenda Janotha, who's secured a key federal award from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)!

Through HRSA's Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention – Transition to Practice Program (NEPQR-TPP), Dr. Janotha will receive nearly $3 million over four years to fund her Rural Integration & Success for Emerging (RISE) Nurses Pathway project.

"RISE represents a transformative investment in the future of nursing and rural health care,” said Dr. Janotha.

“By expanding opportunities for aspiring nurses, supporting the advancement of practicing nurses, and strengthening our clinical and academic partnerships, this initiative will help ensure that rural communities across eastern Long Island have access to a highly skilled, practice-ready nursing workforce for years to come," she added.

Happy #HealthcareSimulationWeek!

This year’s theme is “Sim Found Me,” so we asked Director of Simulation Education Debra Giugliano how sim found her.

"Sim found me through my passion for education, a belief in experiential learning, and an incredible opportunity with the SUNY Simulation Fellowship,” Dr. Giugliano said. “The journey has transformed the way I teach, learn, and inspire others."

Dr. Giugliano is leading the School of Nursing into a new era of simulation education after it was named a SUNY Regional Nursing Simulation Center last year.

On October 16, Dr. Giugliano and the SON’s simulation education team are proud to host the inaugural IMPACT Simulation Conference.

Open to all interested in developments in simulation-based education, technology integration, and innovative practices that advance healthcare training, IMPACT is an opportunity to connect with passionate leaders – like Dr. Giugliano – in the healthcare simulation space.
