This week, Valley College made history.

I was honored to attend SBVC’s first Monarch Graduation, a dedicated celebration hosted by our Dreamers Resource Center (@sbvc_drc) to recognize the accomplishments, resilience, and dreams of our undocumented students.

At SBVC, being a truly serving institution means making sure every student knows they belong, they are supported, and their future matters. Our Dreamers Resource Center continues to provide academic, financial, personal, and community support for undocumented students, DACA recipients, AB540 students, and mixed status families.

Congratulations to our Monarch graduates. Your courage, persistence, and commitment to your education inspire our entire campus community.

Thank you to Evelyn Ruiz Trujillo for organizing this historic first, to VPSS Yvonne Gutierrez Sandoval for being there in support, and to everyone who helped celebrate and uplift our students.
