San Bernardino Valley College Foundation awarded a record-breaking $882,000 in scholarships to more than 600 students at this year’s scholarship ceremony 🎓

These scholarships represent more than financial support. They reflect the resilience, determination, and potential of SBVC students who continue to pursue their dreams while balancing work, family, and school.

“This is not the end of your journey. It is a reminder of what you have already overcome and what you are still capable of achieving.”

Thank you to all the donors and community partners who attended the ceremony and had the opportunity to meet their scholarship recipients. Thank you to Mercie Ramirez, this year’s student speaker, for sharing her story, and to our alumni speaker Gwen Dowdy-Rodgers for coming home to SBVC.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients. We are proud of you. 💙 by @sbvcfoundation

We were honored to welcome Mary Wilson and Jess Tirado to campus to join members of our President’s Cabinet and SBVC Foundation team in celebrating our shared commitment to student success.

Partnerships like this are pivotal to strengthening our scholarship efforts, expanding access to education, and ensuring our students have the resources and support they need to achieve their goals.

The San Bernardino Valley College Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Berglas-Libran Theatre Scholarship, created by SBVC alumnus Devon Libran in honor of Professor Ron Berglas and the lasting impact of his mentorship and teaching.

After taking a course with Professor Berglas, Devon discovered a deeper appreciation for theatre and the arts. Now, he is giving back to help future SBVC students discover creative paths of their own. The scholarship will support students who demonstrate a commitment to the arts and encourage them to explore, grow, and contribute to the creative community.

We are grateful to alumni like Devon who return to Valley to honor the people and experiences that shaped their journeys while creating opportunities for the next generation of Wolverines. 💙 by @sbvcfoundation

The 2026 SBVC Alumni Classic kicked off our home football season with a special halftime celebration! 🏈

Catholic Charities San Bernardino & Riverside Counties presented a $10,000 gift to establish the Catholic Charities Nicholas and Sophia Kosta Education Scholarship.

Catholic Charities CEO Tim Ney and COO and proud SBVC alumnus Jesse Gonzalez, a member of the 1999 football team, joined SBVC President Dr. Gilbert J. Contreras and SBVC Foundation Executive Director Mike Layne on the field for the presentation.

Made possible through the generosity of a donor committed to expanding educational opportunities, this endowed scholarship will provide tuition assistance to SBVC students for generations to come.

We are grateful to Catholic Charities for investing in our students and to the SBVC Foundation for continuing to build meaningful partnerships that create opportunities for the Valley College community. 🤝🎉 by @sbvcfoundation

Investing in our students also means investing in the places where they learn, train, compete, and grow.

San Bernardino Valley College is grateful to Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. (@supervisorbaca) and the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors for approving a $300,000 investment to support the replacement of the turf at our baseball field. This funding will contribute to an approximately $6 million field improvement project and help provide our Wolverine student athletes with a safer, modernized facility worthy of their hard work and dedication.

This partnership is especially meaningful because Supervisor Baca is himself a San Bernardino Valley College alumnus. His continued investment in education and young people throughout our region is a wonderful example of what it means to give back to the community that helped shape you.

Thank you, Supervisor Baca, for continuing to invest in our students, our baseball program, and the future of Valley College. We look forward to seeing this investment take shape on the field and create opportunities for generations of Wolverines to come.
