📚 Stories connect us, teach us, and give us new ways to see the world.

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, San Bernardino Valley College is celebrating Literature Week by highlighting the stories, authors, cultures, histories, identities, and experiences represented across Hispanic and Latino communities.

As a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), SBVC is committed to creating opportunities for students to feel represented, supported, and connected to the many voices and experiences that make up our campus community.

Here’s what we have planned this week:

• Monday, September 21: Literature Week Kickoff + Hispanic Heritage Month Library Display
• Tuesday, September 22: Hispanic & Latino Author Spotlights
• Wednesday, September 23: Book Recommendations
• Thursday, September 24: Mi Nombre, Mi Historia: My Name, My Story
• Friday, September 25: Campus Book Club + Literature Week Wrap-Up

And don’t forget to stop by the SBVC Library throughout the week! Explore the Hispanic Heritage Month display in the Reference Area near the librarians and discover books and authors exploring family, identity, culture, migration, belonging, and more.

On Thursday, join us for Mi Nombre, Mi Historia: My Name, My Story, where you can create your own button inspired by your name and the story behind it. Your design can celebrate your family surname, your given or chosen name, or another meaningful cultural connection. It’s a small way to share a piece of your story and celebrate the many identities and experiences that make up our SBVC community.
