Continued solidarity with union allies is how we’ll make our workplaces - and the world - a better place for everyone. Bahijah & Silvia, union baristas from Philly, were invited to @netrootsnation to talk about mutual aid, strike kitchens, and how our allies made a huge difference during last year’s strike. Since then, we’ve been back at the bargaining table with Starbucks... but that doesn’t mean the fight is over.

Please continue to NOT BUY STARBUCKS until a fair union contract is finalized, and sign our No Contract No Coffee pledge (link in our bio!) to get updates and calls to action from your local union baristas!

What does it take to organize one of the world's most powerful companies and keep going? This panel brings together workers and organizers from across two decades of Starbucks organizing, from the IWW campaigns of the mid-2000s to the SBWU Buffalo campaign and the battles still underway. Come hear their stories, their lessons, and what's next.

We will be joined by Daniel Gross (IWW Starbucks Workers Union and Brandworkers), Zachary Fields (former SBWU Buffalo worker), Silvia Baldwin (Philly SBWU bargaining delegate), and Gershom Bazerman (organizer with EWOC and Tech Workers Coalition).

There’s many reasons to NOT BUY STARBUCKS right now - and that includes taking a check for sponsored content. Call out every influencer who is promoting Starbucks, and let them know workers in our union would be delighted to talk and tell them the whole story! #tobeapartner #starbuckscreator #coachella taken in Philadelphia by @sbwuphilly

Starbucks is withholding expanded tipping and bonuses from union baristas — a textbook union busting tactic, and exactly the kind of retaliation labor law is supposed to prevent.
This matters beyond coffee. When employers can silence workers who ask for better without consequence, that behavior doesn’t stop with one industry. It’s coming for you next.

Over 700 union stores, more than 1,100 labor law violations, and still — no contract.

In our most recent episode, Megan Erickson of Starbucks Workers United joins us to discuss union busting, stalled negotiations, and what workers are actually requesting: fair pay, reliable hours, and simple protections.

Our union is making it clear that we’re ready to move forward, and we don’t think our solutions for pay, hours, scheduling, and protections are anything but reasonable. Let’s get this contract done, Starbucks!

ALLIES: We’re still asking you to support us by saying NO CONTRACT NO COFFEE! Don’t purchase ANY Starbucks and delete the Starbucks app off your phone!

Throwback to our benefit show in support of Starbucks Workers United!

Starbucks makes BILLIONS in revenue each year, but it would take less than one day’s sales to give baristas better take-home pay, consistent scheduling, accessible benefits, and stronger workplace protections with a union contract. Starbucks Workers United is fighting tooth and nail against the union busting tactics of the largest coffee vendor in US history.

Philly DSA is organizing to support workers taking action against the billionaires across our city. Head to the link in our bio to join us in growing the socialist labor movement.

Chris Smalls (1988-present) - Labor Organizer & Human Rights Activist ✊

Launched the first independent, worker-led union effort inside Amazon and became the founder & president of the Amazon Labor Union.

During the pandemic, he created The Congress of Essential Workers. This national collective of essential workers focused on organizing for safety, fair wages, and dignity in the work place.

In 2024, Chris Smalls joined the Handala mission to break Israel’s blockade and deliver aid to Gaza. After the ship was intercepted, he was violently detained and imprisoned. Smalls highlights how Black liberation and Palestinian liberation are intertwined struggles against state and corporate violence.
