“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”

There are times where motivation can feel scarce. The monotony of building can feel dull and insignificant.

However I’ve found that that when the passion for the outcome is there, the means by how to get there comes easy. Work doesn’t feel like work, it somehow feels more natural. Very grateful for the opportunity to serve at NYA Texas this year and play a small role in the social media content that went out! It was cool to see so many talented people come together to make this happen!

In some ways, my daily toolkit looks different than it did several months ago. Some parts remain unmoved—for now.

The truth is tools are always being disrupted, and probably always will be.

The skill that matters most isn’t mastering any one tool — it’s staying adaptable enough to pick up the next one.

Q1 of SCDESIGNCO had been full of new opportunities. Learning how I can best show up and contribute to those around me. God has been opening so many doors!

A lot is changing around us, but I’m convinced that it’s a great time to build something meaningful.

A good workspace strikes a balance between being functional and inspirational.

When it’s designed well, it creates space for both focus and creativity. 
Here are five things I consider when building my ideal setup: 
1. Lighting
Good lighting reduces eye strain and helps you stay focused. Secondary lighting like monitor backlights and lamps also add warmth and depth to the space. 
2. Less Clutter
Only keep what you need in view. When we reduce visual and mental clutter, we lower cognitive load and create better conditions for deep work. 
3. Plants
Lately, I’ve been loving the addition of organic elements in an otherwise geometric, tech-focused setup. Plants create visual balance and help the space feel calmer and more refreshing. 
4. Tech
It can be easy to fall into a rabbit hold of buying the latest gadget. It’s not about having the newest gear, it’s about having the right tools to support your workflow.  
5. Analog To-Do Lists
Alongside digital tools, I rely on a simple daily and weekly paper system from @ugmonk to keep my most important priorities clear and top of mind. taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @sc.designco
