🏙️ Exploring Atlanta Through Architecture & Urbanism!

Our 2nd-year M.Arch candidates had an incredible field trip to SCAD Atlanta, exploring the city through the lens of architecture, urban development, and design.

From iconic buildings and vibrant neighborhoods to evolving urban landscapes, our students visited a variety of locations across Atlanta.

It was a wonderful opportunity to learn beyond the studio, experience the city together, and create lasting memories with our SCAD community. What an inspiring day in Atlanta! 🐝✨❤️🐝💕

A wonderful day visiting TVSdesign Atlanta and getting an inside look at this inspiring architecture and design practice, hosted by our outstanding alumnus Paul McKeever, Principal at TVS.

Paul generously shared his time and insights with our students, giving us a closer look at the firm’s creative work environment, collaborative studio culture, and the exciting projects happening at TVS. It was inspiring to see how design, innovation, and teamwork come together in a professional practice.

Most importantly, it was wonderful to reconnect with one of our SCAD Architecture alumni and see how far our Bees have taken their education and creativity into the profession. Paul’s journey from SCAD to leadership at TVS is a great example of the impact our alumni can make in the architecture community.

Thank you, Paul, and the entire TVS team, for welcoming us and sharing your expertise with the next generation of designers! 🐝🏛️

*What if a city’s greatest flood risk could become one of its greatest civic assets?*
For Suksheetha Adulla (M.Arch, 2026), this question became a guiding principle for designing a more resilient relationship between architecture, water, and the city.

Suksheetha sees architecture not simply as the making of buildings, but as a way of engaging with the forces that shape everyday life. Her time at SCAD deepened this perspective, leading her to explore how architecture can make something as fundamental as water visible, tangible, and shared.

Her thesis, Urban Waterscapes: Distributed Hydrological Framework for Flood Adaptation, reimagines the Musi River as a civic and ecological spine for Hyderabad, one that can support both flood resilience and public life.
At the metropolitan scale, the project proposes a network of blue–green infrastructure nodes that slow, store, filter, and redistribute stormwater before it reaches the river. At the architectural scale, it develops a resilient civic typology that brings people closer to water through landscapes, public spaces, and everyday interaction with hydrological systems.

What if the infrastructure that once divided a city could become the framework that reconnects it?

Ethan Davis (M.Arch, 2026).
@ebd3.studio | @ethanbdavis

For Ethan, architecture is about revealing new potential within places that have been overlooked. During his time living in Charlotte, he witnessed the city’s rapid growth alongside industrial corridors and rail infrastructure that continue to separate neighborhoods. Rather than viewing these spaces as barriers, he saw an opportunity to transform them into catalysts for connection.

His thesis, SI-LO Line, reimagines the historic ADM Milling Co. complex through adaptive reuse, positioning it as the heart of a regenerative transit-oriented district. By integrating regional rail, public space, cultural programming, ecological restoration, and active mobility, the project demonstrates how aging industrial infrastructure can evolve into civic infrastructure… linking communities, celebrating Charlotte’s industrial heritage, and creating a more equitable and resilient urban future.

Creating an iconic bridge that adds to the Baltimore skyline. That’s what Ted Ginsburg, RA (M.ARCH, 2026) set out to do with his thesis, “After the Fall”. @ted.ginsburg

Through his studies, Ted’s curiosity pushed him to explore how the training and enthusiasm of an architect can best be used to make the world a better place.

The goal of his thesis is to set out a framework that allows architects to have a direct impact on the policy and planning that builds our future cities. The project takes the recent catastrophe of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore Maryland as an opportunity to tell a story of a brighter Baltimore. A proud Marylander, Ted blended his interests with a story that was literally “close to home” to develop his graduate thesis.

Can architecture make city living more attainable?

Shira Moses (M.Arch, 2026) approaches design with that question at the center of her work. @shiramoses.designs

For Shira, architecture is about creating places that respond to real-world challenges while strengthening communities. “My time at SCAD challenged me to think beyond individual buildings and consider how architecture can address complex social issues,” she said. “I realized design has the power to improve not only how we live, but who has the opportunity to live well.”

Inspired by Toronto’s housing affordability crisis, Shira’s thesis explores how modular architecture can create sustainable, flexible housing for the city’s missing middle. By combining innovative construction methods with adaptable living spaces and community-focused design, her proposal reimagines underutilized urban sites as vibrant, affordable neighborhoods. Her work demonstrates how architecture can bridge the gap between economic realities, environmental responsibility, and human connection, offering a more accessible vision for the future of urban housing.

What if one of Puerto Rico’s biggest problems could become a community’s greatest opportunity?

Laura Murguía Vázquez (M.Arch, 2026). @murguiadesigns

For Laura, architecture it’s about people, history, and the impact that it can provide for a community that once depended on it. Growing up in Puerto Rico, she watched sargassum overtake the coastlines as well as abandoned factory’s infrastructure decay in the sun. Instead of seeing two problems, she saw one solution.

Her thesis, Eco Industrial, proposes the adaptive reuse of the historic Aguirre Sugar Factory in Salinas, Puerto Rico, transforming it into a sargassum material processing and innovation facility. Sargassum, long seen as waste, becomes leather, bricks, bioplastics, and cosmetics. A factory that once gave a community its identity gives it back again. And a coastline drowning in algae becomes the raw material for economic regeneration. 🪸🐝❤️

Can a building bring people together? Maria Jose Cuellar (M.Arch, 2026) designs with that inquiry as her North Star. 💫

For Maria, architecture is about creating spaces that make people feel, connect, and engage.
“My time at SCAD transformed the way I see architecture,” she said. “It pushed me to think beyond buildings and focus on how spaces shape human experience.”

Inspired by the Dahlonega gold rush and the crystalline form of quartz, Maria’s Lumen Quartz Museum and Cultural Center transforms water and light into spaces for discovery and connection. Her thesis expands on these themes, exploring how architecture can support mental health in the workplace through adaptive reuse, nature, sensory experiences, and playful design strategies. This humanistic approach to design harnesses the power of architecture for the greater good.

🎉🏛️ Congratulations to our SCAD IPAL Graduates! 🏛️🎉🐝❤️

Today, we celebrate an extraordinary milestone. These graduates have successfully completed all three pillars of professional licensure—education, experience, and examinations—and are now officially licensed architects!

From left to right:

✨ Ted Ginsburg has always been passionate about architecture. He is excited to begin this next chapter as a licensed architect and make a meaningful impact on the profession.

✨ Sydney Garceau, from Bethlehem, Connecticut, discovered her love for design while building with LEGO® as a child. She now looks forward to practicing as a licensed architect and will be joining a firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, upon graduation.

✨ Keagan Plume successfully balanced the demands of being a student-athlete while pursuing architecture. She is excited to bring the discipline, dedication, and teamwork developed through those experiences to her professional career at a firm in Baltimore, Maryland.

✨ Payton Rohrbaugh has long been interested in how thoughtful design and the use of space can positively influence communities. As a newly licensed architect, he is eager to apply the knowledge and skills gained at SCAD to make a lasting difference through architecture.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and dedication. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding graduates as they begin the next phase of their professional journeys. The future of architecture is bright! 👏🎓🏛️🐝🐝🐝🐝❤️❤️❤️
