Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present
at The Alex House Project
September 18, 2026 | 5:00-7:00 PM
Created by Brooklyn artist Dáreece Walker, the exhibition challenges the stereotype of the absent Black father through powerful portraits of Black fathers with their children. These images come from the artist observing Black fathers with their children in our city. We see them every day too.
Now, these images will be seen by young adults who are themselves navigating parenthood.

Venue: 9 Bond St 4th Fl, Brooklyn NY

"I use a Sony 6400. Back in the dav (80's), my primary camera was a Canon AE-1. I alwavs looked at the camera and photography as a way for me to hold time, ... Proof Of Life."

I still remember when my mother decided to go back to school for her doctorate in Early Childhood Education. I think I was 9 or 10.
I also remember to hard work it took to receive that degree ...
@timeandmemoryproject YOU DID IT!!!!
And im so proud of you and the great work you will continue doing for humanity.

I had a great visit with artist and

@robertpruitt

Each scaffold participant has a story of how I know them and why they are a part of this project. One day it will be time to share those stories.
This post is about highlighting a wonderfully thoughtful artist and asking him how he creates despite negative distractions?
