A parallel exhibition to Bill Viola. Unspoken

Opening: Friday, 2 October 2026, 19:30
📍The Gym Bar, Onasagorou 89, Nicosia

A dispersed network of video art interventions inhabiting the everyday surfaces of Nicosia’s old city, the exhibition unfolds across artist and architecture studios and former workshops, distributed across three streets.
Analogue and digital, intimate and expansive, the selected works invite the passerby to pause, to look through the lens of the everyday and discover the strange, the poetic, and the political hidden in plain sight.

Unspoken.

📍The Gym Bar, Ονασαγόρου 89, Λευκωσία

An exercise in attentive looking

A guided exercise on the occasion of Bill Viola. Unspoken
with art theorist & curator Evagoria Dapola @scale_appropriate

📍Friday 29 May
⏱️ At 18:00 & 19:00

A short experiential viewing session exploring attention, attunement, and how we
encounter time-based media.
This is not a tour that explains the works.
It is a threshold experience: a way of entering, extending, and remaining with the
experience of viewing.

Beginning in the PSI Foundation public space and continuing into the exhibition itself, the
activation proposes attentive looking as a methodology: how we prepare ourselves
to encounter moving images before interpretation takes over.

Duration: approximately 30-40 minutes

Language: English

Participation is free but possible by reservation only.
Due to limited availability, advance registration is mandatory.

🔗RSVP via the link in bio or via info@psi.art

Unspoken.

⏱️18:00 & 19:00

PARALLEL PROGRAMME

The homeland of our thoughts unfolds as a collective inquiry into how belonging, memory, and place are shaped not only by geography, but by shared narratives, omissions, and fragments of lived experience. The programme approaches homeland as a mental and relational space formed through remembrance, presence, absence, and interpretation; spaces where “third places” emerge.
Responding to fractured archives, displaced histories, and evolving futures, the programme reflects on the gaps within institutional, personal, and collective memory. Through artistic and collaborative methodologies, it explores how communities reconstruct meaning when records are incomplete or silent. Rather than pursuing a singular narrative, the programme embraces polyphony, opacity, and co-authorship as essential to cultural continuity.

Storytelling circles, participatory mapping, reading sessions, and co-design workshops function as temporary sites of encounter. Residents, artists, and researchers gather to re-read archival materials, exchange lived knowledge, and negotiate how memory circulates across generations. Homeland and third spaces are understood not as inherited conditions, but as practices actively assembled through dialogue, interpretation, and care. The programme creates space for stories, gestures, visual ephemera, photographs and fragments to form a shared yet unresolved mosaic. In doing so, we aim to affirm complexity, contradiction, and incomplete knowledge as sources of cultural resilience.

This programme is curated by Christina Skarpari
