I don't know if I'll ever cosplay again. With my weight change and passions shifted elsewhere, I lost a lot of motivation and drive for it. I never say never, though.

I would like to spend less time on my phone. I don't want to be chronically online since it hurts my health. I also want to try and be a good example to younger generations as I strive to work in the education sector.

I want to find love again. The transformation to a single life has been hard, but it's no longer a perpetual grievance of mine. As long as I have my cats and my friends, I believe I will be fine.

I want to continue to explore who I am. I will be turning 30 soon, and one of my therapists told me that those are the best years. Something tells me there is still a lot to this hobbit that hasn't been discovered yet. And who knows, maybe it'll actually be fun, too.

I lost my partner, my best friend, my cosplay partner, my soulmate, my support system. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. Not cosplay, not finishing my university degree, not breathing. I became severely depressed and I sort of held my sanity together purely for the sake of my cats.

A difficult year of mental recovery and new self discovery began. I reached out to people to build a new, functional support network. I reconnected with my biological family to get further emotional support. I branched out to try new things and hopefully find a couple of new hobbies. I used every source and all determination under the Sun to finish my bachelor's degree. I started visiting 2 therapists instead of 1 and had my psychiatrist up my antidepressant dosage. I allowed myself to spend money on inessential things like visiting some friends abroad, seeing new places, supporting my favourite artists and small local businesses, sightseeing, furnishing my home, and spoiling my furry children.

As I started to put myself back together and a fresh image of who I can and possibly even want to be began to form, I was met with a big life opportunity. After thorough consideration, I decided to pursue it. I became a foster parent of a friend who came from a difficult family background, so that he could move in with me instead of living in an orphanage.

This experience definitely turned my life around. I was no longer lost - I had a purpose, a responsibility, a steady goal, and a concrete destination in mind. It came with great sacrifices, but I still hope it made a positive difference in th taken in Prague, Czech Republic by @scarletcatcheen

Hi! I would like to note some things down here.

Cosplay has been a part of my life for well over a decade. However, I never made my costumes myself. I never learned how to do make-up or how to style wigs. I paid for the materials, gathered the parts, brainstormed ideas, found references, organised photoshoots.

It was actually my kind friends and partners who made my costumes come to life with their skills. They poured their time, experience and talent into something that I would wear, take pictures/videos of, and post online later. Needless to say, those people are artists, and their efforts are the sole reason I can call myself a cosplayer today.

My forte was the role-playing bit. It became such an integral part of cosplaying that it easily seeped into my personal life as well. It did so much so that I ended up living significant portions of my personal life through the eyes of fictional characters, whether they were already established or my own. This warped the way I perceived life and even though it brought me immeasurable joy, it also caused problems of its own.

For the longest time, I wouldn't live my life as myself. I would literally role-play my way through hardships and intimate moments, simply because I was used to it, it felt safer, better, and eventually, I could no longer find comfort without it. Role-playing became my lifeline, my coping mechanism, my singular source of purpose. I technically didn't have a self for I had my OCs and fandoms through which I expressed myself. I felt like I didn't have a mold of my own, so I chose a pre-existing one a taken in Prague, Czech Republic by @scarletcatcheen

This vid of Remus and Sirius has been sitting in my phone's gallery for a few years now. I wasn't sure if I'd ever post it. I think the reason why is obvious enough - I strongly oppose the anti-trans agenda of J. K. Rowling.
.
This fandom has meant a lot to me. I still hold many memories attached to it close and dear to my heart. However, I cannot condone the devastating consequences the author's influence has on real people. Those mean more to me than some fictional characters. Those are my people. I may not know them personally, but I am one of them. We create a community. And if Harry Potter has taught me something good, then it is the eternal truth of strength found within communities that stick together.

This is my goodbye to Harry Potter related content. It took me a shamefully long time but after some very fruitful conversations with other people from my community, I have grown to accept that even by posting innocent TikToks and pictures of the characters from the Potterverse, I partially keep Rowling's impact alive. I don't wish to participate in that. If taking a step back and gently parting ways with this world can help chip away at the financial empire she has created over the years, then I am finally able to say that I am ready.

Goodbye, Marauders. You have been a great sentiment for me. Now it is time to move on and appreciate other magical worlds created by people who care about their audience. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 ♥️
