Same tonal family. Two different tools.

6/34 comes from SensiDO’s 3 IN ONE colour range — giving a level 6 base with that warm golden/copper direction.

S/34 Cloudberry comes from the S/-Series Highlight Colours — a highly alkaline oxidative colour designed to lift + deposit simultaneously.

HAIR TAKE OVER — ART 2/60
OUR HERITAGE

NDEBELE.

Before it became a style, it was identity.
Before it became a global aesthetic, it was home.

Ndebele art carries generations of geometry, colour, symbolism and craftsmanship a visual language passed down through generations of Ndebele women. It was painted onto homes as part of culture, ceremony and identity.

For this piece, I brought that language onto a different canvas: the head.

Hair became the wall.
Colour became the paint.
The head became the home.

This piece pays respect to Dr Esther Mahlangu, one of the greatest ambassadors of Ndebele art, who took the visual language she learned from her mother and grandmother and carried it from her community into the world. She showed us that African heritage doesn't have to remain in the past to be preserved it can evolve, travel and still remain African.

So I’m not trying to recreate a house on somebody’s head.

I’m asking: what happens when our heritage becomes wearable art?

This is my interpretation.
My canvas is different.
The language is familiar.

From the walls of home to the crown of the head.
