MEET THE ARTISTS OF BEYOND EL SUEÑO: SHARIK CERVANTES

“I was approached a while back by someone who had attended several of the events I’ve curated or have been a part of. They shared that due to their status, they’ve never been able to return to Mexico since childhood. Consequently, attending my shows or those led by Latino artists has helped them feel a glimpse of home.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have the privilege of traveling to both Mexico and the U.S., allowing me to dive deeper into my family’s roots and share that with others through my work.

Following that conversation, I wanted to create a space that fully immerses the audience. I want guests to feel, hear, and be a part of the exhibition itself, to be part of my sueño. Allowing people to feel free and proud of where they’re from. I’m truly honored to have the trust of everyone who has contributed to making this vision a reality and I can’t wait to share it with everyone else!” - @sce.ecs

Meet The Artist!

Meet Sharik!
@sce.ecs

“Sharik Cervantes, a Latina artist and photographer from Southside Oklahoma City, draws inspiration from her family’s Mexican roots and the streets, communities, and journeys between the U.S. and Mexico.
Her street photography captures raw, unfiltered moments of daily life. Traveling between Oklahoma and Mexico has shaped her perspective and art, reflecting her cultural identity and exploring where memory and reality intersect.
Cervantes’s work honors unnoticed stories, documenting beauty in ordinary life and community resilience.
She has curated art shows, participated in exhibitions, been featured in magazines, and photographed concerts and festivals, all fueling her passion for visual storytelling. Her goal is to preserve moments, celebrate culture, and invite viewers to see the world with curiosity and empathy.”
