As if we needed another reason to love @validationsb - they distill their own (already award-winning) spirits and sell cocktails!

We met their distiller, Dan, who walked us through their innovative distilling process while we tried several spirits and tasty bites from their menu.

They distill vodka, whiskey, gin, tequila, and rum. I tried everything except the tequila and most enjoyed the 43% ABV whiskey 🥃🤙

We tried (my personal favorite) their salmon with zoodles, pastrami & swiss, and fried chicken sandwich.

Validation is truly doing the most in the Funk Zone. They provided the perfect occasion to celebrate quality food & beverages and connect with other local foodies and creators 💗 taken in The Funk Zone by @sceneonstate

Recent Tuesdays we’ve found ourselves at @taquerialaunica_sb - the draw being their asada tacos with pinto beans & guac for $2.99 each (about the same price as adding guac at Chipotle just down the street!). Chips come with your order and their avocado salsa is not to be missed! by @sceneonstate

Today’s a big day - the first day @miliospizzasb is open to the public! We attended a hosted soft opening and were impressed by their creative topping combos, especially The Milio (with sausage & pickled peppers) and the white pie (first pic). They offer both thin crust and square slices, all on organic crust. They also have soft serve 🍦. Santa Barbara is in for a treat! taken in Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara by @sceneonstate

We were fortunate to be hosted by ‘Que @quesmokeshack @sbpublicmarket to try some of the best BBQ in Santa Barbara! We enjoyed their smokehouse sampler of all their meats🥩(brisket, pulled pork and baby back ribs) and their brisket fries🍟 we also enjoyed two house lemonades: basil blueberry🫐 and pineapple🍍ginger🫚 (see end of second vid; not sampled: strawberry mint). The brisket fries were a hit, and the brisket in the sampler was fall-apart juicy😋

We also previewed their Carolina pulled pork sandwich (not shown), which will be on special for $9 for Sandwich week starting this Thursday 6/25 continuing through Wednesday 7/1. If you go Thursday, be prepared for World Cup🏆 crowds!

Secret menu Korean Paella: where else but @secretbao ? They offered to make it 50/50 pork belly/Korean fried chicken, but we wanted to try the OG pork belly version. The socarrat was *chef’s kiss* by @sceneonstate

When we saw beignets (first pic) on the @bistroamasa brunch menu, we knew we had to go. Second pic: egg white omelette with black pepper bacon. Third: tri-tip sandwich. And last but not least: fresh-squeezed orange🍊 juice and tea ☕️. The food was tasty and the service and setting at @uphamsb were lovely. by @sceneonstate

We’re so lucky to have Ethiopian food in Santa Barbara (Sat & Sun 11:30am-2:30pm at Petit Valentien in La Arcada)! We ordered 2 combos comprised of 2 veggie dishes and 1 meat dish (the spicy chicken is a favorite), all served on/with fermented injera bread. by @sceneonstate
