I hear “your skin but better” or “skin scent” thrown around a lot, and as a dermatologist it feels a bit uninformed. There is no fixed “your skin.” What you’re smelling right now is a mashup of your microbiome, genetics, sebum, and even which part of your body you’re sniffing. And that mashup doesn’t sit still. Hormones, seasons, hydration, diet, stress, they’re all quietly remixing your skin chemistry in real time. The “you” your perfume mixes with today isn’t the “you” it’ll mix with next month. You know the one. Sat on the dresser next to a lighter and a pack of cinnamon Ice Breakers, got sprayed before every night out.It smells like pre-parties in someone’s bathroom with the door half closed. Cramped in the backseat, lip gloss reapplied at the red light. Standing outside the club in the cold in a halter top. My best friend wore this breaking all the boys’ hearts, then we’d go to McDonald’s drive-thru blasting the Cranberries. This is what my twenties smelled like. Every bad decision, every good one, every song that still stops me dead in the grocery store is tangled up in this scent.And now it’s discontinued. Years of curating and obsessing over each perfume means every bottle holds a precious memory, a past life, and a highly questionable amount of emotional attachment. What can I say about Meant to Be Seen that hasn’t already been said.I wear it on days my alarm doesn’t go off. Days I hit every red light like it’s personal. Days I pour coffee on myself, then lock myself out. Days I reply all by accident. Days nothing goes my way and I still have to show up looking like I have it together.It’s soft musk, textured powder, a touch of floral. Gentle, but it holds its ground.
