Hi. It’s me again 👋🏻
Sometimes I wonder if I’m a person or just a nose wearing pants. Either way, I work with niche perfume brands. I help them do business in Portugal, Spain, and the Nordics, which sounds very official, but mostly it means I spend a lot of time thinking about fragrance. And sometimes I smell something and it rearranges my whole day.

This account is eight years old now. That’s the same age as a precocious child who asks uncomfortable questions at dinner. Like, “Why do adults say they’re fine when they’re clearly not?” while chewing on some pasta.

I’ve been in the perfume world for ten years. In that time I’ve collected 250 bottles, which is too many, unless you consider each one to be a memory that needed somewhere to live.

Before perfume, I did other things. I wrote for newspapers, sold houseplants, translated other people’s words into my language, owned a restaurant. If I listed everything, you’d think I was making it up. It’s like a big collage with no glue, but it all led me to this moment.

I take pictures. I write things. I notice stuff that most people don’t have time to notice, like how some perfumes smell blue or how a bottle can look lonely in the wrong light.

I’m also a father. A husband. A dog dad. I forget to drink enough water, but never forget what chamomile smells like. I’m good at carrying groceries and remembering obscure actor names, but bad at answering emails quickly, unless there's money involved. I’m working on that.

Anyway. If you’re new here, I’m glad you found me. If you’ve been here all along, thank you for not unfollowing during my gourmand phase. There will be more phases. There’s always more. And I’m sure it will smell incredible. by @scentrified

another whirlwind month has come to a close. i keep evolving and learning every day – who to trust, where to turn for support, and how to survive in a cutthroat industry where most people will use and abuse you until you're nothing but a shell of a person. on a lighter note i watched some good films, obsessed over silo's third season, got lots of needed beach time and sunsets, went on more perfume trips, and celebrated my daughter's 4th birthday while also finally getting the adoption papers finalized (yes portuguese bureaucracy is something else!).

i also worked tirelessly on my biggest event yet for @lisbonperfumeclub – a fashion photography and perfume exhibition that will run for 5 days in october. can't wait for people to come experience it!

i found my olfactory archetype: the maximalist 🖤

this summer, i wanted to take my daughter out on the lake where i used to swim as a boy. we only made it a few minutes before water started pooling around our feet – an old boat, damaged in a recent summer storm – and rowed back to shore fast, laughing the whole way. there, on the rocks, an anchor has stayed rusted and in place since the time my father was young, entirely unbothered by any of it. some things pass in a minute. some things don't really move at all. like stilled time. by @scentrified
