Growing up in Trinidad, mango was something I knew instinctively.

But creating Black Mango Vetiver forced me to think about exactly what mango smells like in perfume.

Working on this fragrance made me look beyond the obvious sweetness and juiciness. There’s the green skin, the slightly piney quality, the honeyed richness when it gets really ripe, and even that almost skin-like aroma that develops with the fruit.

That became one of my favorite parts of the creative process.

I wasn’t simply choosing a mango note. I was realizing how many different versions of “mango” were already sitting in my memory, and then figuring out how to translate that into fragrance.

Pascal Gaurin did a beautiful job interpreting those contrasts in Black Mango Vetiver without turning it into something that simply smells like sweet fruit.

And thank you to everyone who supported the first two batches. Both batches sold out.

I hope you're all doing amazing!

This week, I decided to treat myself a little and work remotely from the cabin, just Kayla, my sweet 14-year-old Labrador, and me. I left Oslo in the city with my boyfriend and enjoyed a few peaceful days on my own.

Perfect temperatures, beautiful blue skies, warm sunshine, and the freedom to simply enjoy each day at my own pace... absolute paradise! Sometimes, taking a little time to recharge by yourself is exactly what your soul needs. 💚

I also hope you'll enjoy the picture I created for this fragrance! 🍁

Let's just say... I made quite a mess with the maple syrup! Thankfully, my boyfriend's family has been producing maple syrup for generations, so we always have plenty at home... and it's the best! 😋

I actually had to start over a couple of times and clean the bottle after making a sticky mess, so I ended up with quite a few different versions of this photo. I'll be sharing some behind-the-scenes shots in the carousel 😊

Today's post is a very special one for me because I'm talking about one of the very first niche fragrance houses I discovered when I began my fragrance journey, and one that I've remained particularly fond of ever since... Scents of Wood.

Inspired by forests and fine woods, the house ages its organic alcohol in carefully selected wooden barrels before the perfume is even created. Combined with the work of some of the world's most talented perfumers, the result is a collection that's truly unlike any other.

And today, we're taking a look at 𝓟𝓻𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓮 𝓲𝓷 𝓜𝓪𝓹𝓵𝓮 𝓥𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓰𝓮 25, a new reinterpretation of their highly successful Praline in Maple. While both fragrances share the same DNA, this new vintage takes a noticeably darker and more mature direction, allowing the woods, smoky resins, and spices to take center stage.

The Scents of Wood collab with Mr Cologne has landed at @LaParfumerieUSA! Meeting both fragrance enthusiast, Glenn Davis @MrCologne76 and @ScentsofWood founder, Fabrice Croise at @LaParfumerieUSA was such a treat. They were both genuinely warm, welcoming, and down to earth.

As for the fragrance? Black Mango-Vetiver completely blew me away. I usually pass on vetiver, but the way it’s blended with juicy mango makes it elevated, balanced, and 100% unisex.

Sometimes the people closest to you recognize the moment before you do.

My wife packed gold markers in my suitcase so I could sign bottles tomorrow.

The funny part is, I hadn’t even thought about needing them.

But she did.

That small gesture made the whole thing feel a little more real. She also clearly thinks I’m a much bigger deal than I think I am. 😂

For anyone new here, Black Mango Vetiver is my fragrance collaboration with Scents of Wood, created alongside founder Fabrice Croisé.

I’m grateful for the trust, the opportunity, and every moment this collaboration continues to create.

See you tomorrow at La Perfumerie USA in Raleigh from 12–7 PM. The gold markers made it safely.

My wife has been wearing Black Mango Vetiver so much, I’m starting to think I owe her a royalty check. 😂

She has claimed the bottle, stepped in front of the camera, and is already giving me creative direction.

At this point, Scents of Wood may need to add her to the campaign.

North Carolina, let’s finally meet.

I’ll be at La Parfumerie in Raleigh on Friday, July 31, celebrating the launch of Black Mango Vetiver, the debut creator collaboration from Scents of Wood.

This fragrance has already created some incredible moments, but getting to share it with you in person makes this stop especially meaningful.
