POSTS STORIES REELS

This is a wonderful place to catch a sunset and enjoy dusk... And see the fall colours.

But don't be fooled by me running. As I said in the previous post, I wouldn't call this an easy trail. It's easy to follow, but the exposed roots, rocky terrain, and steep sections can be challenging. I don't think everyone would find it easy.

If you're not used to hiking in the dark, the trail becomes harder to follow once it's covered in leaves at sunset/dusk. I've hiked it twice. On my first visit, I helped a stranded couple. On my second visit, I helped a small group return to the parking lot.

Thank you, @rideauwaterwaylandtrust for a well maintained trail. 🍂🙏

Une petite balade en forêt. Enjoy the fall colours. 🍂🍁

Although that was my second time there in the same month, this is not what I would call an easy trail. I'll share more in the future.

When the pace is steady, the direction is clear, and the moment puts you at ease… life is good.

How calming and beautiful it is to know exactly where the path leads, without the need for detours.

Behold, an 800+ years old monastery. Warning, what I'm about to share is quite tragic.

While I was traveling through Portugal again, I decided to visit Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Alcobaça, (more commonly known as Mosteiro de Alcobaça), as it was recommended by locals. During my visit, I learned that the tombs inside belonged to royal families, and every visitor was allowed to walk around these tombs. They even had some for infants/children..

So, from my understanding, there was a king that had sent assassins to kill his son's significant other, who had given him 4 grandchildren; one of whom had passed away in their infancy. The son was away. The assassins succeeded and committed their gruesome act while she was holding on to one of her children.

Upon his return, the son of the king found out and went to war with his father, which caused a civil war. His father eventually passed away and he became king. He found two of the assassins and had their hearts ripped out, while still alive, for breaking his heart (this is not an exaggeration).

Now both lovers rest in their tombs, inside the church of the monastery, facing each other toe to toe on opposite sides of the church.

This short reel, and caption, does no justice (no pun intended) to the beauty and how much you can discover while visiting the very first fully Gothic building ever constructed in Portugal. From this tragic lovers' event to a river flowing through the kitchen and more, this place has 873 years of stories.

The church is still used by locals today. I'm still waiting for the HBO / Prime Video / Netflix series about this location.

How would you complete the last line you see on screen?

A gentle reminder that the most beautiful sunsets happen during cloudy skies.

Altocumulus clouds lined the evening sky and gave me this sunset to share.

There’s a quiet magic when clouds hold the fading light. These altocumulus cloud layers turn the sky into a slow‑moving painting, letting the colours linger just a little longer before the day slips away.

Le temps rouge au couchant promet du beau temps.

Enjoy the colours, the soft calm, and this cinematic nature moment.

Have you ever stepped into the enchanted laurel tree forest of Madeira?

A place where clouds turn to fog and silence feels alive. With ancient trees, soft light, and an atmosphere that pulls you in.

Enjoy this cinematic nature footage with forest fog, ethereal scenery, quiet landscapes, and the otherworldly voice.

ℹ️ Travel notes:
Early mornings hold the deepest quiet. Watch your step in the mist and respect the free‑roaming cows.

Keep this note safe for your visit of Fanal Forest. 🌄🌫️

Que saudade da Madeira 🤍

Moments like this make you realize how rare it is to feel completely at peace with your own thoughts, surrounded by beauty that asks nothing from you except to be noticed.

Life can take you on some amazing adventures, both in distance and in growth. Never thought I’d hike a volcanic ridge in Madeira to relax, while watching boats and fish farms in the Atlantic Ocean. The rugged cliffs, deep blue ocean, island coastal trails, and raw coastline made the moment feel unreal. Madeira Island is remarkable for its terrain diversity. Exploring new places, reconnecting with nature, and seeing how people experience the world always feels grounding.

Where will the journey of life take you next?

ℹ️Travel Tips:
The São Lourenço peninsula is a large area, but the hike is short and easy to follow. My only suggestion is to go on dry days and to avoid the tail when there are strong winds.

Que saudade de Madeira. 🤍

You have the freedom to enjoy nature tonight.
Keep time for moments that honour this light.
Silent your mind and breathe the fresh air in delight.

Ground yourself in colours as the day turns slow.
Notice the sky shifting in a warm evening glow.
Inhale deeply and let the long daylight fade.
Nurture your calm as quiet settles in shade.
Embrace the stillness rising as horizons grow wide.
Value the peace arriving with nature’s soft tide.
End your day with something that keeps you calm inside.

☝️ An 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝘆 is free to all, every day. If given the opportunity, don’t miss it!

Enjoy this sunset sky reveal!

If you want speed, start by slowing down.

𝐍othing builds endurance like easy runs.
𝐔se feel, not numbers, to guide the run.
𝐑esist comparing easy runs to Zone 2 long runs.

𝐘our pace can vary and still be perfect.
𝐒imple, light mileage creates real strength.
𝐀im for ease and let the pace follow.
𝐄very light effort shapes your progress.

☝🏽 An easy run is the backbone of your training plan. Strong runners build by training smarter. Easy runs can be slower or faster than your zone 2 runs.. stop looking at your speed or your heart rate. If it feels easy and you're not gasping for air, you're doing it right.
