i don’t think i’ll ever fully be able to fully comprehend this trip. tennessee was full of hurt, but it was also full of so much hope.

this week i had the privilege of serving alongside some incredible people and loving on kids who welcomed us with open arms. getting to spend time with them, laugh and worship, and watch some of them dedicate their lives to Jesus is something i’ll never forget. seeing faith like that at such a young age left me in awe. but if i’m being honest, this trip also challenged me more than i expected.

there were moments where i felt discouraged because it seemed like nothing i could do would ever be enough. seeing the suffering that some of these kids experience every single day was heartbreaking. i was only there for a week, but for a lot of them, this is their everyday reality. it forced me to be upfront with God about questions i didn’t have easy answers to.

through all of that, God kept reminding me of something simple. i’m not the Savior. He is. my job isn’t to fix every broken situation or change every life on my own. my job is to faithfully love people, plant seeds, and trust Him to do what only He can do. everything happens in His timing, not mine.

this trip also opened my eyes to how much i take for granted. i always knew suffering existed, but it’s easy to become comfortable and forget what’s happening outside of our own routines. getting to step into this community reminded me that every person has a story, and every story deserves to be met with compassion.

i’m leaving tennessee with something i didn’t have before. confidence. not confidence in myself, but confidence that God can use ordinary, imperfect people who are simply willing to say yes. i don’t have to have all the right words. i just have to be available.

to everyone i got to serve alongside, from both ennis and waxahachie, THANK YOU! i’ll forever be grateful for the friendships, the laughter, the encouragement, and the way you pointed me back to Jesus all week.

tennessee changed me. my heart hurts for the people i met there, but i leave with hope because the same God who called us there is the same God who continues working long after we’ve left tennessee. by @schaefer.weber

i find it funny how one week i was standing on the outside, watching students encounter Jesus, and the very next week i was standing in the middle of the room realizing that i still needed Him to work on me too.

going into high school camp, i honestly thought i already knew what i was going to hear. after serving at junior high camp, i knew the curriculum. i convinced myself i probably wasn’t going to learn much because i had already seen it all.

hearing the same messages from a different seat gave me a completely new perspective. instead of just seeing the theme, i began to understand it. cultivation stopped being something i was teaching and became something God was teaching me. i realized that before i can pour into others, i have to let Him continue to pour into me.

serving at junior high camp gave me a front-row seat to the next generation of believers. then, just a week later, i got to look around and see what God is doing in this generation too. it was such a humbling reminder that no matter where you are in life, we’re all still growing.

i challenged myself this week to speak up more during small groups. i’ve realized that i want to become someone people can come to for Godly wisdom and encouragement. i still have so much to learn, but i’m thankful God doesn’t wait until we’re perfect to use us.

looking back on this whole summer, i don’t think it’s a coincidence that every season has somehow pointed back to leadership. leadership camp taught me how to lead. junior high camp taught me what it looks like to serve. and high school camp reminded me that the best leaders never stop being students themselves.

growth doesn’t end when God starts using you. if anything, that’s when it becomes even more important to stay teachable. by @schaefer.weber

walking into my last drum major camp is a feeling i don’t think i’ll ever be able to put into words. it feels like just yesterday i was stepping into this role for the first time, and now, somehow, i’m getting ready for my final marching season!

this week reminded me why i fell in love with leadership, band, and the people who make it all worth it. i’m so grateful for every lesson learned, every friendship made, and every memory that came from this experience. while i’m excited for everything this season has in store, it’s hard not to realize that so many “lasts” are starting to happen.

some of the best moments are the ones you don’t realize you’re living until they’re over. grateful for every second of drum major camp and all the people who made it unforgettable. by @schaefer.weber

i don’t really know how to put this week into words. ineffable is probably the closest thing i can think of.

going into camp, i was nervous. i didn’t feel qualified to be a student leader. i felt like i didn’t know enough about the bible, didn’t have all the answers, and honestly questioned whether i was the right person for the job, but somewhere throughout the week, God reminded me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers. it’s about showing up, being available, and letting Him work through you.

i had the privilege of leading a cabin, helping my students with rec games, setting an example for worship, and diving deep into discussions, but more than anything, i had a front-row seat to watching God move in the lives of these students. getting to watch the next generation come to Christ and surrender their hearts to Jesus is something i will never take for granted!

the most emotional moments weren’t the big events or the games. they were the conversations afterward. the moments when students came up with tears in their eyes after giving their lives to Jesus. those moments were powerful. those moments were so holy!!!

the theme of camp this week was planting seeds and cultivating those around you. i’ve learned that sometimes we don’t get to see the harvest. sometimes all we’re called to do is plant faithfully and trust God with the rest. this week showed me just how much a single seed can impact someone’s life.

i’m also incredibly grateful for the other student leaders. every laugh, every late-night conversation, every challenge, and every memory made this week what it was. getting to watch them grow alongside these students was just as special.

saying goodbye was harder than i expected. these students probably have no idea how much they impacted me, but they did. this week left me in awe. not because God did something surprising, but because i got to witness Him do what He has always done, change lives!

the one thing i learned this week is that you should NEVER underestimate what God can do with a willing heart and a seed planted in faith.

thank you God for leading me all week, and thank you @theavenuechurch for blessing me with this opportunity by @schaefer.weber
