Return to Glory. 18x40 inches. One hundred and fifty hours.

McLaren ran its thousandth Grand Prix this May. Only one other team has ever done that and I wanted to capture the team’s full history on a single sheet of paper.

The color half sits front and center. Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Zak Brown and Andrea Stella. Back-to-back constructors’ titles and a drivers’ championship.

The graphite on either side is the history, and it reads left to right. Bruce McLaren first, then the drivers who built the name; Fittipaldi, Lauda, Hunt, Senna, Prost, Hamilton, Coulthard, Hakkinen, Button, and Raikkonen. No color. Every helmet and every visor by hand.

Colored pencil and graphite on Legion Stonehenge. The hardest part was the composition. Fifteen figures on one sheet, and it had to read like a timeline.

This is a pencil drawing.

I made it for the people who love this team, this program, as much as I do.

18” x 40”. Colored Pencil. 150 hours of work.

College football is back and so is “The Dynasty”. I’m bringing it back next week as a signed, numbered limited edition. 150 prints, plus 25 special Remarque editions finished by hand. The early access list gets the first pick, a full day before anyone else.

“Return to Glory” one of three. Eighteen by Forty inches. Swipe for the history

Two of three. The only color on the piece celebrating the 2025/26 Constructors and 2026 Driver Champions

Three of three. Back to graphite.

Ayrton Senna. The Legend. Drawn to a separate scale than everyone else.

Bruce McLaren. The founder.

Emerson Fittipaldi and Niki Lauda. Fittipaldi won McLaren’s first Formula 1 championship in 1974. Lauda won his third in 1984, by half a point.

Alain Prost and James Hunt. Hunt took the 1976 title by a single point. The Professor won three more in the eighties.

Lewis Hamilton and David Coulthard. Hamilton won his first championship with McLaren in 2008. Coulthard spent nine years with the team and won most of his races with McLaren.

Mika Häkkinen and Kimi Räikkönen. Häkkinen went back to back in 98/99. Räikkönen came close twice with McLaren.

Jenson Button. He arrived in 2010 already a world champion and stayed for seven years. by @schainart

I drew Ayrton Senna in 2024, thirty years after he died. Graphite, no color at all.

That helmet is famous for being yellow. Yellow with the green band and the blue stripes, and you can pick it out of a still frame from 1988 at a glance. I drew it without any of it. What’s left is shape, edge and light, and it’s still him.

I left the paper white around him and let him look out into it. In this drawing he’s still watching the track.

McLaren ran a Senna fan art contest that year. Out of thousands of entries, eight were named finalists. This was one of them, and the only one drawn by hand.

I’m bringing it back in November as a signed, numbered edition, on Brazil weekend, at his home race.

WIP shots of my “Swamp Kings” piece. Limited edition releasing in October!

It’s been a lot of fun laying down Orange and Blue colored pencils to bring these legends to life! The piece is 22x30in and it gives me room to really bring out the details like Tim’s John 3:16 eye black and Urban’s intensity.

Telling the story of McLaren’s return to the front of the grid along with its epic history with pencils and a single sheet of paper is quite a challenge, but it’s also a helluva lot of fun. by @schainart
