Don’t let what you don’t try haunt you!
This fall, I’m offering a collection of student-led, pattern-free sewing classes designed to help you build the skills—and the confidence—to see what fabric can become.

These aren’t classes about following a pattern from beginning to end. They’re about putting fundamentals into play while building your sewing muscle: understanding shapes and construction, working from your own measurements, making choices, experimenting, and figuring out what comes next. You don’t have to know exactly what you’re doing. You just have to start sewing. Check out Autumn classes at my link in bio, or the pinned post on my wall. taken in Twin Cities, MN by @schmatte_68

TWO WEEKENDS. FOUR WAYS TO GET INTO TROUBLE. 🧵

I’ve got sewing plans.

THIS SATURDAY • SEPTEMBER 19 • CFLO

12–2 PM — MEET YOUR MACHINE
Bring the sewing machine you already own. We’ll thread it, wind a bobbin, make friends with the controls, troubleshoot the weirdness, and get you sewing.

3–5 PM — TEXTILE LAB
Create a potential disaster!
Needles! Stitch length! Finishes! Fabric with opinions! We’ll experiment, play, test things out and see what happens.

NEXT SATURDAY • SEPTEMBER 26 • CFLO

12–2 PM — MEET YOUR MACHINE
Never sewn before? This is where you start.

3–6 PM — SQUARE ONE
Be There. Be Square.
Start with simple shapes and turn them into something you can actually wear. No pattern required. Just squares, sewing, and a willingness to see where it goes.

AND ONE MORE…

SUNDAY • SEPTEMBER 27 • 2–4 PM
MEET YOUR MACHINE
at The Mullet AudreyRose Vintage

These aren’t sit-and-watch classes. Bring your questions, your curiosity, your machine, your weird fabric, your half-baked idea.

We’ll figure it out together.

Come sew something. Make a mess. Learn a thing. taken in Center For Lost Objects, Gallery & Showroom by @schmatte_68

It will take a little courage, a little faith, a little patience. But I promise you can do it. Sewing empowers you. My handmade pieces are imbued with all the dreams that spun in my mind while sewing them. Edited to add: I used a manual editing tool that is not ai to create this graphic collage. My work is created and shared thoughtfully and with purpose.

Start in your own closet, take something that’s still compelling, but rarely worn and see if you can add, change, remove the element that gives you pause. You don’t have to start from scratch, try putting yourself into it and see how it feels. So many things feel better after you just chop them up! What do you have to lose? taken in Minneapolis, Minnesota by @schmatte_68

Start sewing. Build your wardrobe. Make it yours.

Think of them as building blocks for a handmade wardrobe—skills you can keep using long after class is over.

✂️ Textile Lab — September 19| 4-6pm CFLO
✂️ Square One — September 26| 3-6 CFLO
✂️ Smarty Pants — coming soon
✂️ Skirt Chaser — coming soon

Classes are intentionally small—no more than four machines—because student-led teaching means having the time and attention to actually see what you are doing and help you move forward.

Textile Lab and Square One are open for registration now!
Come play, experiment, and start building your sewing muscle. Secure your spot via my Link in Bio.

Your Fabric Has Opinions.
You picked it because it was the right color, or because you thought it could adorn you with just the right hint of whimsy.

But that fabric has a future it aspires to. Maybe even a tradition to uphold.

Fortunately, you can tame it into becoming whatever you want by using a few fundamental tactics.

Fabric → needle → stitch → result.

In Textile Lab, we’ll experiment with needle choice, stitch length, finishing options, and the particular demands of different fabrics—and you’ll leave with a cute accessory of your choosing: a scarf, scrunchie, or schmatte.

More importantly, you’ll leave with a little more confidence, a little more understanding, and the inner calm to make the fabric you chose see things your way.

The first Textile Lab is limited to four makers, and those spots are ready to be filled with curious sewists and unruly textiles.
Come play at Center for Lost Objects September 19th. Register via my link in bio!

The fabric has opinions, sure —but you’ll leave it in stitches. taken in Center For Lost Objects, Gallery & Showroom by @schmatte_68
