Happy CRYSTAL Anniversary Mrs. Schmidt. We’ve kept it going for 15 years, and managed to keep two kids and a new dog alive somehow.

The First Day of School. It feels like the summer ended tragically early even for me. Couldn’t justify the Halloween Decorations.

Jenny and Paul will now be split up, not in the same school again until she is in the 12th Grade. Love you both so much. Have a great year. by @schmidty85

Photo dump from the annual family trip.

This year provided a unique set of challenges, but nothing that would disqualify us from going back. These areas in Florida have become a true home away from home. I suspect we will always work a visit down there even as we see new places. by @schmidty85

Happy 250th Birthday, America. 🇺🇸

On the world scale, this important milestone year in our country’s history illustrates just how young the USA is.

It also illustrates to me how all the more impressive it is that this great experiment paid off so well that we get to enjoy all of it now. America sits at the grown up’s table.

We live in a more cynical place these days. It’s important on a historic date like this to remember that the ideals this country was founded on are still here. Maybe they’re taken for granted sometimes, but they aren’t lost.

The United States of America IS, and continues to be, a success story. If you’re reading this post, it means you’re an apart of that success story too. It’s ok to embrace your Patriotism.

Selfishly, I hope I’m still alive another 50 years from now for the TRI-Centennial. That would be pretty cool.(I’d be 90 years old)

I’ve spent my entire life being a huge geek. This is no secret.

It wasn’t until I got into adulthood that I became not only comfortable with that fact, but also unapologetic about it.

That being said, it’s incredible how many people ASSUMED I knew anything about Harry Potter, and flat out thought I was LYING when I told them I did not know anything. Like I had any reason to lie, even though I love Star Wars, lord of the rings and so on.

Until this year, had not read any of the books, and had not seen any of the movies. A massive blind spot.

Tonight, I finished the final story. Will watch the movies later this week.

This has been a fun ride. Everything I’ve read and seen in my 40 years of life, many of which came after Harry Potter, were inevitably used as comparable examples in this story, to help me understand it all better.

For example, I began reading Sorcerers Stone about a week after Stranger Things ended. It was impossible not to see Henry Creel/Vecna when I looked at Tom Riddle/Voldemort. Many more things like this entered my brain the last six months.

Not really else much left to say, at least now I can give opinions on this.

I’m delighted to tell you that my very early suspicion is that the sorting hat would probably put me in RavenClaw house, and I was right. I took the online test and I knew it for sure when I discovered you have to answer Trivia to enter their common room. by @schmidty85

Happy Birthday Jenny!

And Congratulations on completing Seven Years at Section Elementary School on the exact day you turn 12. Less than an hour left before you’re onto Junior High as I post this. A June 10th for the books for sure.

Not really ready to call you a Teenager a year from now, let alone all the stuff that comes with it. Weren’t you doing virtual learning in kindergarten like 5 minutes ago?

Year 3.

I can’t understate how I’m proud of this kid for continuing to suit up and get out there. He’s already lasted longer than I did in little league, and no one made him do it.

He’s fueled by Effort, heart, and being with his friends. The talent just shows up to watch, and there’s alittle more every day
