Sometimes the best way to understand fascia is through play.

In kinesiology last week, our students experimented with cornstarch…a material that yields when pressure is applied slowly, but becomes firm when force is applied too quickly.

It became a beautifully simple way to explore one of the principles we teach in bodywork: pressure isn’t only about how much…it’s also about how fast.

When we move slowly enough to feel the tissue respond, we can follow the body’s own pace of yielding rather than forcing our way through resistance.

We often describe this as staying with the pace of internal consent…listening through our hands and allowing the tissue to tell us when it is ready for more.

That sensitivity is part of what transforms technique into therapeutic touch.

Appointments are now open for the fall season for both 90-minute therapeutic massage and 90-minute energy medicine sessions.

We are so very proud to be able to support our community in this way—offering high-quality, thoughtful care at a reduced rate while giving our students the invaluable opportunity to learn, practice, and grow.

And truly, thank you for supporting our students. Our clinic clients have become such an integral part of their education. Your trust gives our students the opportunity to develop confidence, deepen their skills, and experience what it means to care for real people within their community.

Seeing our regular clients walk through the doors each week makes all of us smile. It reminds us that this school is part of something much larger than the education happening inside our classrooms.

It was such an honor attending Robin Galay’s book launch yesterday for her award-winning novel, Grief Is a Hurricane! I bought copies on the spot for our students enrolled in Touch for End of Life Care…I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful addition to their learning.

What a special day, and what a truly marvelous human you are, Robin. It has been such an inspiration watching you use your creativity and your art to transmute your own pain into something that supports and holds other people through theirs.

You are an angel walking this earth. I am so grateful to know you and so excited to see this beautiful work making its way out into the world. ❤️ by @schoenfarber

Our 650-Hour Massage Therapy Training begins September 8th, and we are preparing to welcome a beautiful new group of students into our school.

Every time a new cohort begins, I am reminded how much I love this work.

I love watching someone walk through our doors wondering whether they really have what it takes…and then watching them discover their hands, their confidence, their knowledge, their capacity to care for another human being, and eventually, their place in this profession.

Massage therapy is such meaningful work. It asks us to become skilled, grounded, present, ethical, and deeply attentive to the human being in front of us. And teaching people how to do that is one of the great privileges of my life.

We have room for just a couple more students in this fall’s cohort.

So this is my final invitation.

If you have been watching us, thinking about massage therapy, imagining yourself doing this work, or quietly wondering whether this might be your time…I invite you to reach out.

You do not have to have everything figured out.

You just have to be ready to begin.

A very high percentage of our graduates become entrepreneurs, and I am deeply invested in their success.

That might mean visiting and patronizing their businesses, celebrating and sharing their work on social media, or helping them think through how to structure a business that is both legal and sustainable.

Recently, we added a Marketing Mastermind class, and it was such a marvelous experience to come together and talk about the ins and outs of building a thriving practice…different forms of marketing, client retention, sustainable growth, business structure, and all of the things I’ve learned through many years of entrepreneurship.

What a privilege it is to be able to pass those lessons along.

And what an absolute delight it is to watch former students step into their own businesses, find their footing, grow, and thrive.

At the end of the day, this work is about helping other people. But it is also about tending to the parts of ourselves that need healing so that we can learn to deeply receive…to receive support, opportunity, abundance, connection, and the fruits of the work we have poured ourselves into.

I am so incredibly proud of these young entrepreneurs.

They are exceptional, extraordinary people…filled with life and enthusiasm and passion…and getting to watch them build something of their own is one of the greatest privileges of this work.

My God, I’m lucky. 💛

Our fall programs begin in just a couple of weeks, and enrollment will remain open for one more week.

We still have a small number of spaces available in both our Massage Therapy Training Program and Energy Medicine Training Program, and I would love to welcome the right students into these communities.

This was the first song I ever asked my father to teach me to play. I was 15.

He told me it was a fairly ambitious choice for a first song, but he didn’t hesitate to begin. When I was a little girl, my father played it for me every night as I fell asleep…as many times as I asked. Which was many.

The evening before last, my son said to me, “Hey Mom, I have a surprise for you.”

I had no idea what he meant. He plays electric guitar, so this was the last thing I expected.

Then I walked into the room and he started playing Blackbird on his little blue Squire.

I put my hands over my face to repress the sobs. He was so proud. I was so touched.
