Archive // Studio shots from my residency at @b.murals last year (Sep-Dec 2025) I look back on this period as a time of immersing myself in creating artworks while navigating personal struggles, an experience that redefined and clarified my identity as an artist. (As if I earned a new layer of skin - if that makes sense) Sometimes I have difficulty concentrating on studio work, but I also learned to realize painting, or any other creation can be therapeutic and that it has the power to transform us. Every time in Mexico City feels like a treat for the soul, catching up with old friends to be reassured we’re connected close even though we live miles away, the city’s raw chaotic energy always takes me to an unexpected situation where I’ll end up either laughing or shrugging to a random person 🤷🏻‍♀️ and there’s always so much food here that can probably fill the whole universe. So much culture, art, chistes and creative people I would have never imagined to meet. My condition wasn’t the best this time, I had certain expectations for this trip that went down the drain but thanks to my friends I was blessed 💛 I’m only human and vulnerable but I’ve been incredibly lucky with the friendships I’ve made—not just in Mexico or Japan, but all around the world. And you know who you are. by @schokolein

Other moments that nourished me during this trip. Like kayaking in Xochimilco to see the sunrise, learning about the chinampas and its ecosystem, an afternoon in Museo Anahuacali, visiting a friend in Oaxaca and drinking agua de palomitas 🍿🫧(surprisingly refreshing, I couldn’t stop thinking about it for a while) Not everything has to be twisted, dissected and interpreted to have meaning; some things are simple enough to speak for themselves and exist as they are.
