Setting off on the @ecoshowboat Bateau Soleil expedition, our first French expedition navigating using entirely solar energy along the Canal Saint Martin and through the stunning vault under Boulevard Richard Lenoir. Delighted to be joined by @carmelauranga of @cinemorphe, coproducers with @schooloflooking of this exciting new series of expeditions to help launch climate action following the dreadful heatwaves and fires all over europe this summer!

C'est le départ de l'expédition « Bateau Soleil » avec @ecoshowboat, notre première expédition française naviguant exclusivement à l'énergie solaire le long du canal Saint-Martin et à travers le magnifique tunnel sous le boulevard Richard-Lenoir. Nous sommes ravis d'accueillir @carmelauranga de @cinemorphe, coproductrice avec @schooloflooking de cette nouvelle série passionnante d'expéditions visant à encourager l'action climatique après les terribles vagues de chaleur et les incendies qui ont ravagé toute l'Europe cet été !

Really enjoyed this interpretation of Libertango by the amazing @cinemorphe performers and @fabricenaud on theremine, to celebrate the launch of the @ecoshoboat Bateau Soleil project in Paris. Looking forward to roaming the rivers and canals of France from the Eco Quartier Fluvial on the L'ile Saint Denis on Mayfly, the tiny but beautiful solar electric boat! Thanks to Carmela Uranga, Lucy Dixon, Hubert De Leusse, Macdara Smith, Fabrice Naud and as always thanks to @artscouncilireland, @creativeireland, @researchireland for amazing support during the Irish expeditions.

SOLAR ELECTRIC BOAT LAUNCHED BY IRISH ARTISTS IN PARIS

The Eco Showboat (Le Bateau Soleil), a solar boat and floating work of art, is launched on the Bassin de La Villette in Paris before undertaking a 2-year series of expeditions on the Seine and other navigable water bodies of Île-de-France using only solar energy to raise awareness of climate change.
Retrofitted by Irish artists Anne Cleary & Denis Connolly, this delightful little boat already travelled for 2 years on the Irish Inland waterways using solar power and was successful in sparking climate action in communities across the country.
This exciting new expedition on the French inland waterways is co-produced by the Paris based performance arts collective Cinemorphe, and the Irish eco-arts organisation, School of Looking. Artists from both organisations will be travelling on the Eco Showboat this summer.
Le Bateau Soleil (Eco Showboat), un bateau solaire et une œuvre d'art flottante, est mis à l'eau le 25 juillet sur le bassin de la Villette à Paris avant de passer l'été à naviguer sur la Seine en utilisant uniquement l'énergie solaire afin de sensibiliser le public au changement climatique.
Réaménagé par les artistes irlandais Anne Cleary et Denis Connolly, ce charmant petit bateau a sillonné pendant deux ans les voies navigables intérieures irlandaises en utilisant l'énergie solaire pour sensibiliser le public au changement climatique.
Cette nouvelle expédition passionnante sur les voies navigables françaises est coproduite par le collectif d'arts de la scène Cinemorphe, basé à Paris, et l'organisation irlandaise d'éco-arts School of Looking. Des artistes des deux organisations voyageront à bord de l'Eco Showboat cet été.

SOLAR ELECTRIC BOAT LAUNCHED BY IRISH ARTISTS IN PARIS

The Eco Showboat (Le Bateau Soleil), a solar boat and floating work of art, will be launched on the Bassin de La Villette in Paris at 7.30 pm on July 25th, before undertaking a 2-year series of expeditions on the Seine and navigable water bodies of Île-de-France using only solar energy to raise awareness of climate change.
Retrofitted by Irish artists Anne Cleary & Denis Connolly, this delightful little boat already travelled for 2 years on the Irish Inland waterways using solar power and was successful in sparking climate action through artistic actions in communities across the country.
The two-year award-winning Eco Showboat Project that took place in Ireland in 2022 and 2023 won the Irish Arts Council’s prestigious Open Call Award, as well as a Research Ireland Discover Award and was also supported by Creative Ireland and local authorities across Ireland.
This exciting new expedition on the French inland waterways is co-produced by the Paris based performance arts collective Cinemorphe, and the Irish eco-arts organisation, School of Looking. Artists from both organisations will be travelling on the Eco Showboat this summer.
“We are really excited about the possibilities of this journey” said artist Anne Cleary. ”This boat will be a sort of floating observatory of the traces of the Seine’s history as a heavily industrialised waterway, now a corridor of biodiversity in such a densely populated region of France. Our silent moving platform provides beautiful opportunities for photography and video!”
The launch on Saturday, July 25th is the opportunity to view this innovative solar art-boat for the first time in Paris, to meet the artists and hear more about their inspiring journeys. Cinemorphe musicians and performers as well as the fabulous theremin artist Fabrice Naud will be joining the navigation team, and who knows, the exuberant company may even treat onlookers to some spontaneous performance moments to celebrate the launch.

Knocksink Wood Education Centre*, 7.30pm
"From mountains to sea, from headwaters to estuary, the catchment of a river connects and encompasses entire ecosystems, carrying animals and plants, people and pollutants alike. This beautiful series of short films explores river catchments across Wicklow and beyond, introducing the lives of river creatures and the people who protect them."
Friday 22nd May. Refreshments at 7pm, screening at 7.30.
*Please note that the carpark at Knocksink Wood Education Centre is currently closed; the Education Centre is a pleasant 15-20 minutes stroll from the Bog Meadow Car Park in Enniskerry village.

Please join us on Thursday 13th of November @peoplesmuseumlk from 5.30 - 8 pm at the People's Museum of Limerick (coach house) for the launch of the Old River Shannon exhibition with artwork by young artists from Dochas Midwest Autism Support @dochasautism The evening includes STEM talks, screenings and music with @indeceltic We're very excited to present The Fall of the Giant Hogweed performed by @indeceltic, a new arrangement commissioned by @schooloflooking (us) of the classic Genesis song from the '70s, with it's darkly humorous premonitory lyrics and psychedelic sounds. Don't miss this amazing song interpreted for harp, guitar and voice by the incredibly talented @annatanvir and @maanu_walia (Maninder Singh). Also as a special treat, Anna and Maninder are offering a free songwriting and improv workshop on the theme of biodiversity, from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday 13th too, all welcome to join and bring an instrument if you would like to! All events are free and drop in, just come along, booking not required!
