The ZRHS Class of 2026 marks 7 years of sponsoring the senior class. Saying goodbye never gets easier. Incredibly unique and independent, I’m looking forward to seeing where they go and what they do. Their influence has made me a better teacher and person, and I am always grateful. by @schoolzem

How do you make 400 paper tissue flowers in 4 hours? You sponsor the Class of 2027, and they bring a couple of parents along. I couldn’t be prouder of this class. Let’s just say they overcame a few obstacles this spring. But here they are, banded together to get one of the biggest school events of the year knocked out. They are definitely my people, and I am a better person for knowing them. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ by @schoolzem

No cell service, no neighbors, no leashes, no problems. We spent 5 days being Yoopers near Big Bay, Michigan just over 700 miles north. Fall has set in there, and we didn’t see temperatures over 65. Our Airbnb host shared his hunting cabin and a plethora of information about the area. The road leading to the cabin was basically a logging road that wound around for about a mile. Lake Superior showed off her beauty and might. But most importantly, I don’t think the girls spent more than an hour total on leashes. by @schoolzem

An infinite amount of fun and laughs, 2,392 miles, several side quests, 10 tanks of gas, 3 very different music genres, 2 crazy “kids”, and a Subaru. The minute school got out, from Saturday 5/24-Sunday 6/1, we burned the candle at both ends. The ZRHS Class of 2025. What an amazing crew. The fledglings have left the nest and are poised to do big things. So proud of them all. The 2024-2025 school year marks 6 years of being the Senior Class Sponsor and 17 years teaching. I came full circle this year when a former student became a chaperone. The students keep me young, and they are forever young in my heart. by @schoolzem

“Kermit’s function on the show is very much like my own, in that he is trying to hold together this group of crazies, which is not unlike what I do.” —Jim Henson As a teacher, I’ve never related more to a quote. I did, in fact, find the rainbow connection today in Peoria, Illinois at the Riverfront Museum. My husband made possible the round trip eight hour drive to see Jim Henson’s Exhibition. Watching Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and the Muppets go from concept to reality, I ended up all in my feelings. I overheard one of the docents say that 3,000 people went through the exhibit on Saturday. It will be there until January 5th, and all of you should make the trip. by @schoolzem

I haven’t been Ms. Olsen in roughly 15 years. However, in asking this young man if he was in the checkout line at Cracker Barrel this morning, he replied, “You go right ahead Ms. Olsen.” I immediately snapped back to my first teaching job at Marion High School and a slightly younger Tyreese Jefferson was sitting in my classroom laughing and talking about something fun. What a joy it was running in to him and catching up for a bit. Teaching is hard. But, having students recognize you nearly 20 years later and still smile this big when they see you makes it all worth it. My husband reiterated, “I can’t take you anywhere.” #daymade #teacherlife #kindnessmatters by @schoolzem

It’s back to school I go! I haven’t decided on a PhD or another MA, but one or two semesters should help clear it up. I also discovered that after graduating 19 years ago, I can still walk from one end of Faner to the other without going outside. #iykyk #siuc #faner #gradschool #siucgradstudent by @schoolzem
