That's a wrap folks!
@sehsuechte 2023 was intense.
Thank you to all the artists who showed their work, to all the helpers and collaborators and of course everyone who came by to say hi ♥

This summer term, I attended the machine learning workshop at @ctech.filmuniversity !
These are the results of a generative adversarial network (GAN), where a "discriminator" learns to tell apart fake and real images of handwritten numbers. This competes with a "generator" which starts out with random pixel values, but aims to trick the discriminator into thinking that it's fake images of numbers are real.
And here you can see the results of this arms race.

For this project, I explored particles and their rendering with #Houdini. My goal was to create an abstracted fire or hearth encasing/consuming the statue of a vestale. Vestale, or vestal virgins, were high priestesses in ancient rome, guarding and tending to a holy fire within the temple dedicated to the goddess Vesta.
.
While highly respected and influential in the city, they were to remain chaste and tend to the temple. If they didn't follow the rules they could be punished with death (being buried alive) ...
.
This is my result of the final project for the course "Procedural Generation and Simulation" at @ctech.filmuniversity!

Presenting "PROJECT: R.E.A.L." my first term project at @ctech.filmuniversity.
.
I researched alternative transportation methods in VR - specifically seamless portals - so you wouldn't need a controller for moving around anymore.
.
However, it seems that I have accidentally opened a portal to ... somewhere else. Almost like a "backroom" of our reality, but this will need further research.
.
"If you're not careful and noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms [...].
God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you"

The result of my final project for the @ctech.filmuniversity course "Theoretical Backgrounds for Audio and Graphics":
HEIZKRAFTWERK MOABEAT.
.
With this project I explored the visuals and soundscapes of inhuman,
but man-made, industrial structures, like a coal-powered heat plant.
.
The techno beat was completely made with recordings from my smartphone, by recording the HKW Moabit (and some recordings of me kicking stuff in my kitchen). The visuals are made with threejs and some shader shenanigans and react to the musical piece.
.
The intro and outro sections are very dear to me, as they serve as intermediaries between the real world and this "trip down the rabbithole".
The intro is just a plain recording of the Heizkraftwerk and the outro is the same, but mirrored - veeery clever, i know~
❤️💚💙
.
You can also find this piece on my website (link in bio) if Instagram crunches the quality for you as well... 😅

Finally making a post about my Bachelor thesis "REMOTE" (2021) 🚀🛸✨
.
In my artistic-technical bachelor thesis I worked on the realization of a game scene with the #oculusquest and the #unrealengine. In this slice, players can explore a part of a space station in which they can control the playback of volumetric videos.
.
Minimalist gameplay and the explorable environment support the immersive encounter with the 3D footage of a real person - a crew member of the, now abandoned, station. Especially this integration of moving photogrammetry presented a particular technical challenge and the core theme of the work.
Check out my website (link in bio) for more.

One of my first web projects: The Bürgeramt waiting room simulator!
Made for all those, who just cannot get enough of the smell of linoleum floor and the taste of eternity while waiting.
Visit takeanumberandhaveaseatplease.herokuapp.com for a thrilling experience.
(It's also linked in my bio)
.
With this project I wanted to explore the topic of "uselessness" from the creative coding 1 course at @ctech.filmuniversity a little more & I created this entirely useless web waiting room experience.
.
Once you click "Take a number", you will be taken into the waiting room.
You will be assigned a randomly generated number, which is "printed" onto the piece of paper held by your hand in the lower right corner. You "win" if you wait until your number is called by the waiting number system in the upper left corner.
.
The minimum possible wait time is 28 hours & the maximum possible wait time is around 16583 hours (1.9 years).
The mean value lies at a waiting time of approx. 346 days.
But what happens at the end ... ? by @schreib.machine
