Machine Tending with vise automation: structured, repeatable, and robot-ready. 🤖

Dedicated vises are stored in a magazine on storage pins. Loading/unloading and reclamping for machining the sixth side can happen either outside or inside the magazine. A robot places the vise on a dedicated clamping station in the machine tool using special gripper fingers. After machining, the robot removes the vise with the workpiece and returns it to the magazine.

Can one automation cell earn its keep across dozens of parts?

Jordan Bomar of Thryve / Jewett Automation walked us through a 3D vision cell that answers yes! With flexibility.

"Anything that could be put in one of these bins that the vision system can see and learn can be picked."

One cell can be changed, added to, and reused for different parts. Thryve sees it working in multi-SKU assembly, on-demand kitting for automotive manufacturing, and e-commerce order fulfillment, including pairing it with AMRs.
