The days are definitely getting shorter and my hair grayer 😂. I am slowly going through my apartment and deciding what to take with me and what to leave behind. I can’t count the number of trips to the parcel shop to send things I have sold, but I love the process. Of course there is the garage looming with things I haven’t looked at for years and my dad’s old tools, but I suppose it looks worse than it is and when I really start on it, it won’t be that bad. Life has been interfering with my desire to post here lately 🤨. Sometimes I get so entangled in the daily routine and chores that I forget to just have fun with Instagram and post even if I feel uninspired and rather boring 😂. This outfit is one of my current favourites. I love lace-up bodices but never had the guts to wear them. But they feel so “me” in a way and the added bonus is that they offer support for my bad back so why wouldn’t I wear them? Even if the ones I own don’t have bones in them (or what do you call that 😅) they still provide support. I am on a mission to discover my natural hair colour. I know I am going grey of course and it seems to be a silvery grey which I quite like. Next Friday I have an appointment at the hairdressers and I’ll be going a bit shorter as well. We’ll see how it turns out. I do have a back-up hair colouring set at the ready 🤭. However much the world tries to tell us we need to buy this to be happy or that to be popular, don’t believe it. Money and stuff can never make a person feel happy and fulfilled. It gives you a short rush of gratification which soon dies away to leave you hanker for more. True happiness and fulfilment lies in keeping your heart open and finding the courage to love what is already there. Finally kicked myself under the butt to start walking again. I needed to pick up a parcel and I turned it into a hike of about an hour. I was actually surprised how easy it went in spite of the pains I have been suffering from lately. I have arthritis and I know I should walk to keep my joints flexible but it’s not always easy to get motivated. It was beautiful in the forest though and the air was balmy. And this is the finished belt worn over the dress for which it was intended. I embellished it with little charms to liven it up. I am happy with the result. It looks exactly as I intended it. It fastens in the back with a knot or a bow, but sometimes I see belts like this being fastened with buttons. #memadewardrobe #sewing #homesewing by @schyvaerts_inez

It’s a dark and rainy Sunday so I have decided to sew a fabric belt, something that I had been thinking about for a while. There are other little projects on my list like embroidering a dress (the one I am making this belt for). A walk is on the to-do-list as well if and when the skies stop their weeping 😉. When I look into the history of fashion I often find that women’s silhouettes were always important. It didn’t matter if you were thin or curvy, the silhouette was being emphasised.

Whether that was a good or a bad thing ís debatable. Nowadays fashion is not made to emphasize the body but often to hide it. Fashion follows the spirit of the times. More and more, women are supposed to hide their femininity.

I think that is a shame. The fun of dressing is to express oneself. To dress for oneself and not for approval or rejection. Fashion should be fun after all. 💖 #ootd #vintagefashion #proaging #secondhandnotsecondbest by @schyvaerts_inez

The knitting project that is never finished 🤭. This is the 3rd (!) time that I’ve restarted this pattern. First time : running out of wool when it was 3/4 on it’s way. Second time : running out of wool when it was half finished. So now I am knitting the 3rd version and this time I’ll have enough to finish it. The problem is the shop discontinued the wool when I had just started the first version. I must admit that I am a go-getter when it comes to knitting 🧶😂.
