🎙️ Episode 15 of SCI First For Hunters is now live.

Earlier this year at the SCI Convention in Nashville, I had the pleasure of sitting down with @craiglkauffman for a conversation about hunting, traditions, and the future of our community.

We spoke about Austrian hunting culture, the traditions that have shaped me as a hunter, the founding of the SCI Austria Chapter, and why international cooperation has become more important than ever for the future of hunting.

One thing I have learned over the years is that hunting is about far more than the harvest itself. It is about the people we meet, the friendships we build, the traditions we pass on, and the responsibility we carry for future generations.

From Austrian hunting traditions to the future of hunting worldwide — I hope you enjoy the conversation.

Madrid. 🇪🇸

From March 20–22 I’ll be attending Cinegética in Madrid, one of the most important hunting exhibitions in Southern Europe.

In my role as President of the SCI Austrian Chapter, these gatherings are an important opportunity to connect with the international hunting community, exchange perspectives, and stay closely engaged with developments across the European hunting landscape.

Events like this bring together outfitters, manufacturers, conservationists and hunters from many different countries — and remind us how international our shared passion truly is.

If you’ll be in Madrid as well, feel free to message me.

As President of the @sci__austrian__chapter , my focus was not the exhibition floor – it was the conversations behind the scenes.

Leadership meetings.
Strategic alignment.
Building bridges between continents.

One highlight was witnessing @jannekedams receive the Weatherby Award – one of the most significant recognitions in the hunting world.
The red beret we all wore that evening was more than a symbol.
It was a statement of unity, legacy and shared commitment.

Another personal milestone:
Being invited to speak on the @official_sci Podcast with @craiglkauffman .

European hunting culture has a voice and it is an important part of the global conversation.

Different traditions.
Different landscapes.
One responsibility.

The future of hunting will not be shaped locally.
It will be shaped internationally.

And I am proud to contribute to that dialogue.

🔔 INFORMATION FOR EUROPEAN HUNTERS 🔔
Are you planning to hunt in Austria?
Starting in 2025, the new Weapons Law (Waffenrecht 2025) will come into force — the most significant reform in over 30 years.

📌 Key changes every hunter should know:
❌ Possession and use of Category B firearms (semi-automatics) will be prohibited.
🔒 Stricter rules for the possession and transport of firearms.
🧠 More demanding psychological tests to obtain licenses.
⚙️ Magazine capacity limits: 10 rounds for long guns and 20 for handguns.
🦌 Hunters may carry their firearms during legal hunting activities with valid licenses and documentation.
🤫 Suppressors permitted in certain cases.
🛒 Private firearm sales will only be allowed through licensed dealers.
Before traveling or hunting in Austria, make sure to review the updated regulations to avoid legal issues.

At SCI Europe, we encourage all hunters to stay informed and comply with local legislation, promoting responsible, safe, and ethical hunting across Europe.

In mid-September, I was in Doha and attended the @scimiddleeast chapter gala evening.

I was nominated for the @r_sniper_snider48 Huntress of the Year Award and was one of the three finalists—a great honor among a group of exceptional huntresses from around the world.
The award was won by @claudia_tagliaferriricci from Italy! I was particularly pleased that @larysaunleashed also shared the podium and that, we were finally able to meet in person.

That evening, my dear friends @belahidvegiofficial (@sergey_yastrzhembskiy Conservationist Award) and @jannekedams (@jimshockeyofficial Hunter of the Year Award), whom I both hold in high esteem, were also honored.
@realboddingtons received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his life’s work.

I am deeply grateful to have been part of this special moment – surrounded by people who live hunting with passion, integrity, and heart.

My thanks go to @_abdullahalthani and @bo_shamlan89 for the invitation and to @huntgeo_official for organizing this wonderful event.

💫 An evening full of inspiration, friendship, and appreciation.

They watch.
They judge.
They quote catchy slogans.

But conservation isn’t a slogan.
It’s work. It’s science. And yes – it sometimes involves death to preserve life.

I hunt. With respect. With awareness. With legacy in mind.
And I won’t apologize for knowing what most only assume.

“Probiert’s aus – statt alles schlechtzureden.”
Neue Folge. Neue Perspektive.
