Mind wandering is defined as moving your thoughts away from the present task or event, to thinking about the past, future or another person’s thoughts. 🤔🤔🤔. Neuroscientist discovered a “default network” which is activated when we are not focused on the task at hand. This can be activated in a fraction of a second. Killingsworth & Gilbert conducted a really cool study in which they had participants randomly respond throughout the day to what they were doing, what were they thinking about, and if they were happy. 😨😨😨. They found our minds are wandering almost half the day AND we are reportedly not happy when this is going on. Great news: We are least likely to be mind wandering during sex, socializing with friends & working out. This also explains the positive effect of meditation. 💋💋💋. See link in bio “mind wandering” for more info!

We have all thought “if I just had this one thing, I would finally be happy” Well, turns out that’s not true.
😳😳😳
Additionally, when you receive or earn more, your preference level will follow, causing you to always want more (or at least THINK you do). Lottery winners, married couples, newly engaged couples, students accepted to Ivy League Universities, those who landed their dream job, got a huge raise or a gorgeous home, or achieved fame all experience Hedonic Adaptation not too long after these events.
🤑🤑🤑
Professor Laurie Santos of Yale University points out “our minds are built to get used to stuff” and even worse “we don’t realize that we have hedonic adaptation.” (Santos, The Science of Well-Being, coursera.org).
Some quick tips to overcome this inevitable happiness killer:
-Savor moments that make you happy.
-Indulge in experiences not material things.
-Recognize what you are comparing your life to & reset your reference points.
In the course “The Science of Well-Being” Santos also gives “homework” on how to rewire your brain. Things like meditation & exercise, random acts of kindness & most importantly recognizing constantly what you are grateful for, all may lead to increased happiness.
I highly recommend taking this course online. Link in bio for info.

Guys gossip more than girls.
🗣🗣🗣
Gossip isn’t necessarily bad thing, it is the foundation of social society. Speaking about another person or their habits is considered gossip.

It is known that males need to orgasm in order to procreate, but it is not fully understood why women have them - since they don’t NEED to have one to get pregnant.
😮😮😮
In addition to making women want to lay down after climaxing, there are many other theories and studies about why, scientifically, this needs to happen. Research shows that the muscles that contract when you orgasm actually attract the sperm to the egg.
💦💦💦
Other theories suggest that orgasms create an emotional connection between partners and help us communicate what “works” for us.
❤️❤️❤️ If you want to read more about this topic pick up “The Female Brain” by Louann Brizendine - it’s the best book ever!

An article in Psychology Today states that simply admiring the contrasting colors that fall brings makes our brains happy. 🍂🍂🍂
“Our brains interpret this dramatic change as a signal... When we encounter a unique stimulus, we tend to think it’s meaningful — and if the stimulus comes and goes at regular intervals, we attribute even more meaning to it” according to Jason Burnt of Biola University.
🍁🍁🍁
Additionally, this welcomed distraction can pull us away from the stress of everyday life.
🍃🍃🍃
The memories we have of fall seasons past and all the pumpkin spice, sweater weather, decor and everything that comes with it makes us happy. To read the full article in @psych_today see link in bio Thanks @malezysman for the smokin hot photo 😘😘😘

According to American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sports teams, including NFL, NBA, & NHL are at an advantage when they travel from west to east, than the other way around. 🏈🏈🏈 Additionally, teams traveling west and playing in the evening have the biggest disadvantage. 🏀🏀🏀 “The study reviewed the past 5 years of regular season games in the NBA, NFL and NHL and noted the winning percentage of the visiting team depending on the direction of travel (east vs same time zone vs west), and the number of time zones crossed for every game.” 👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬 Link in bio for more info on this study #scientits #science #tits #sleepy #sleepstudy #sportspsychology #poppsychology #nfl #mondaynightfootball #nhl #stanleycupplayoffs #nba Thank you to my hottie @malezysman ❤️❤️❤️ taken in MetLife Stadium by @scien_tits

Additionally, we find those who look like us to be more trustworthy! 👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬 Researchers used individual’s photos of themselves & morphed them into others, varying degrees of how much they used the original features. Most participants rated the pictures that looked most like themselves as attractive & trustworthy. 🤳🏼🤳🏼🤳🏼several studies have looked at the correlation here, to read one click Link in bio. Smell is thought to be the most powerful, emotional, and memory provoking of all the senses - makes sense that it would be linked to the intensity of our greatest feeling! Amiright??? 👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬 Looks like @rouxsterxl has an amazing olfactory system (and bod) Thanks for sharing your #sexeyes #scienTits #science #tits #orgasms #sexeducation #letsgo #hottie 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 CEO of B-Vibe & The Cowgirl, Alicia Sinclair notes: "Since being present is key to orgasm, someone who is able to take note of distinct smells may also have an easier time being 'in the moment.'" Cute aggression is our brain’s response when overloaded with adorable, positive stimuli.
👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼
First studied at Yale, Dimorphous “Expressions of Positive Emotion” was studied to shed light on why we cry when we’re so happy (like when we accomplish a goal or see a loved one) and why we want to squeeze a cute puppy or precious baby we meet.
🐶🐶🐶
Researchers believe we display behavior associated with negative emotions (crying, clenching fist, grinding teeth) to help regulate & calm down the intense happy feelings we are experiencing.
Some people feel embarrassed when this happens, but it’s totally normal!
🤬🤬🤬
