Happy Open Vault Day to all who celebrate! by @sciencemuseummn

Like so many transplants experiencing a polar vortex for the first time, walleye are a sensitive fish.

Washington County voters can renew the Land and Water Legacy Program on Election Day. The program is one of the reasons the Science Museum's @stcroixresearchstation now has more than 300 acres of land conserved forever. Since 2006, the program has completed 53 projects on 1,900+ acres and leveraged $34M+ in matching funds, leading to clean water, wild places, and healthy rivers. ✨ STILL FEELING THE FREQUENCY… 🌙

What a beautiful experience our Cosmic Sound Bath was! 💫

A gathering of souls, a space to slow down, soften, surrender, and reconnect through the healing power of sound and vibration.

From the beautiful energy in the room to the moments of stillness, deep relaxation, and connection — every part of this experience was something special.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us, opened their hearts, and allowed themselves to be immersed in the experience. And to everyone who helped bring this gathering to life, I am so grateful. 🤍 A very special thank you to @edelaittre for capturing this magical evening and to @evanbhendrickson being such a wonderful support in helping me follow this dream ❤️

These photos and videos are just little glimpses of the magic we shared.

Until we gather again… keep your frequency high, your heart open, and your spirit connected. ✨

With love & cosmic vibrations,
💜🌌 Devin

A halloween party with a grisly feature. 🎃 🦈

SHARK KINGDOM: Playing for one night and one night only during Club Science: Halloween. This immserive Omnitheater movie revealshow the ocean's top predator uses hidden super senses to be a key player in the marine ecosystem.

Each shark species wields unique powers to help them survive and protect their diverse habitats, whether it’s a great white settling in the wild and wind-swept seas of New Zealand, whaler sharks learning to coexist with Australian fishermen, or black tip reef sharks venturing from Tahiti mangroves to the open ocean. During this single-night feature, get up close to these awe-inspiring creatures and be immersed in the larger story of our shared oceans.

If you're perusing this month's issue of the Journal of Mammalogy, you might see a familar face.

From 2021 to 2023, the museum's own Biology Collections Manager Dr. Dakota Rowesy joined a team of researchers survveying 10 localities on the slopes of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The Santa Catalina Mountains rise high above Tucson, Arizona, as part of the Madrean Sky Islands, a group of about 54 forested mountains surrounded by low-lying deserts. As you travel up the Catalina Highway, the landscape changes dramatically, moving from desert brush at the bottom to evergreen pine forests nearly 9,000 feet up. Because these cooler mountain habitats are so different from the hot desert around them, they host unique wildlife.

Even though people have studied these mountains for years, scientists still lack updated information on the small mammals living there, making it difficult to investigate how changing climates affect local wildlife. To help fill this gap, researchers surveyed 10 different sites on the mountains. They collected 150 specimens, took field measurements, and gathered tissue, parasite, and fecal samples from 219 other animals before releasing them.

In total, the team recorded 15 different species. Surprisingly, they expanded the known living range (how high up the mountain they live) for eight species and discovered the first recorded fulvous harvest mouse (Reithrodontomys fulvescens) in the area. This research breaks a 40-year gap in specimen collection for the region. By using modern testing methods and sharing these new detailed records, researchers are creating a map for how to study and protect wildlife across the rest of the Sky Islands. Learn more about their work in the October 2026 issue of the Journal of Mammology.
