Some of the best ideas for protesting this data center have come from YOU so we wanna share them!!

This follower suggested we email news sources to report on this story and get even more coverage. This isn’t just an Utah problem, this is an American problem.

We’ve linked a spreadsheet in our bio with major news sources and their emails as well as provided a script for you to send to them.

Keep the conversation going and urge these agencies to report on this ongoing fight!

What are your ideas for protesting this in new ways we haven’t tried yet?? taken in Salt Lake City, Utah by @scotrox

It’s time to protest the Stratos Data Center water rights application again.
Protest deadline is June 16.
Submit a protest via email for free: waterrights@utah.gov
Subject line: Protest - Change Application a54536, Water Right 13-2645
Or the online form: waterrights.utah.gov/protestOfApplication/protestOfApplication.asp
Enter a54536 as the application number.
Potential script:
I respectfully protest Change Application a54536 on grounds directly related to water quantity, water quality, water availability, and potential impairment of existing beneficial uses.
The proposed diversion and use associated with a multi-gigawatt power facility may adversely affect the quantity and availability of water supporting Salt Wells Spring Stream and the Locomotive Springs Wildlife Management Area, which has already experienced documented declines in flow and wetland function.
I further request investigation into how the proposed project will negatively affect groundwater and surface water quality through the return of industrial cooling water, including chemically treated and thermally elevated inputs into the Great Salt Lake watershed.
The State Engineer should require a complete and independently verified water budget, analysis of aquifer impacts, and evaluation of cumulative effects on existing water resources and beneficial uses before any approval is granted.
Because these issues relate directly to water quantity, quality, availability, and potential impairment of existing uses, I request that the State Engineer conduct a full investigation and hold a hearing before making a decision on this application.
