a lovely, hefty book that looks and feels great in my hand. Melanie and I have been together every month in a virtual writers group since 2020. We have job-bobbed at AWP. We've hosted her family in our home here in OKC. And I'm delighted. -- more later, but Shanti Arts has helped her make the book every poet I know would like to write -- juicy into, bibliography, notes to the poems and generous layout. -- The lullabies! If "Twinkle, Twinkle" was your last encounter as an exhausted parent with a fussy sleeper, these poems may change your mind about the overlooked and long-lived form. (Ever wondered what Eve sang to her children?) And they're the work of a sophisticated mind (China, theological depth, MFA informed, etc.). -- You gotta read this! by @scott_lamascus

Preparing an estate sale of 5 generations of sportsmen. Wow. Who knew? Six tackle boxes, 20 rods and reels. Really?

I miss Dad most singing, "How Great Thou Art" (the song he was singing to himself when he caught Mom's ear first) AND when I'm handling his sporting goods collection.

Texoma. Montana. Canada. His family fished and hunted in the Dust Bowl and Depression to eat. Then, by the time I came along, it was still a passion, pastime, and a way of life for family, always tagged, permitted, and in season. My Grandfathers respected conservation because they saw the topsoil blowed away and the land scarred by the Wildcatters generation before them. Bag limits were there to ensure quail for my generation.

Carly Bedford's work is currently in the OC Gallery and it's clear she's an Oklahoma artist to watch! She's getting selected by juries and invited for galleries. Alice and I treasure our friendship with Carly and Tanner, whose creativity is matched by so many strengths and qualities. We're grateful to have the chance to learn from them.

Sad occasions bring us together now -- like Saturday's memorial for Sherry Alexander Bingham -- but it's always a delight to see former students. And a joy to see them supporting their classmates in times of grief. Here are 2 pics from happier times -- fed up to me by my FB function, which saw me posting and texting some of these former students and pushed the pics to me from 13 years ago! Loved my storybook career in English and Honors at OU, GSW, and OC. What world-changers I learned from as their prof. by @scott_lamascus

Mending never really went away. Aprons. Fences. Levi's frazzled at the hem. But for a moment the world went mad for breaking things, no heed for mending or rebuilding.

Our son, Parker, and friend Melanie have both inspired me to think about kintsugi and sashiko.

Get Melanie's new book, ya'll.

Host a mending party for your birthday! Parker did and his friends loved it!

It's an old thing to make beautiful things of scraps and bits and frazzled things aplenty. Go see the PMOA exhibit on quilts -- and enjoy Burch-Mankin and Lowe-LaMascus examples from our house! by @scott_lamascus

(Each piece of ephemera will go home with the person who brought it, so don't worry about your items.)

I'd promised it to our kids when we were back there with them in 2023. In May 2026, they chose U.S.-Portuguese infusion for their wedding banquet in another seaside city -- Portland, Maine. DOURO, 110 Thames. It's magnificent. Eat there soon! by @scott_lamascus
