Isay Weinfeld has been a favorite of mine for as long as I’ve covered Brazil, and I’m lucky to know him and have learned from him. No better person to talk architecture with, he’s brilliant. Talk film with him, and he lights up in a whole different way. So writing up his first cinema, Cine Tutu in São Paulo, was a treat.

There's something special about a room full of Georgetown alumni who share a passion for real estate. Last week in Beverly Hills, we hosted the Inaugural LA & West Coast GU Real Estate Alumni Event, and it exceeded every expectation.
The conversation, the laughs, the caliber of people in the room — a reminder of why community matters in this industry. Thank you to everyone who came out, and to Adam and Samantha for co-creating this with me.
This is just the beginning. Quarterly events ahead, with more ways to stay connected in between. If you're a GU alum working in real estate on the West Coast, reach out — we want you there next time.

#soundon A sincere thank you to all of the friends and colleagues who did so much to welcome my students from Georgetown University’s graduate school of real estate last week. From the SAHIC stage in Rio to the streets of Itaim in “Sampa,” it was a magical and educational journey through Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Brazil, wider LATAM, and the Caribbean have real lessons for real estate professionals everywhere — in hospitality, mixed-use, retail, and beyond. This trip showed our students the level at which these markets operate, and the incredible surprises waiting for those who look closer at a region that is often overlooked yet quietly leading in so many ways.

I’m guessing at least a few of my students fell in love with Brazil and the region, just like I did many years ago.

Proud to be teaching these talented professionals at #georgetownuniversity who are learning about real estate development in Brazil and the wider Latin American and Caribbean markets this semester.
This week, we are in…you guessed it…Rio de Janeiro for the South American Hotel Investment Conference (SAHIC), then on to São Paulo for site visits, industry meetings, and a packed program with some of the region’s top developers and operators.
It’s an honor to be part of their professional journey — and part of the GU Real Estate graduate program that gave me so much.

Eran Chen of @odanewyork is one of those rare architects who thinks as deeply about preservation as innovation. My latest @wallpapermag interview explores his approach through Ola Palermo—a stunning adaptive reuse project recreating connection to its historic namesake neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

The gravity of this masterpiece is impossible to put into words. Seeing #guernica in person was both the highlight and lowlight of an incredible weekend in #madrid

For the past 25 years, #sãopaulo, #brazil, has had less than a handful of hotels that could capture the imaginations of discerning global travelers – but this is finally changing. The new @pulsohotel is the hotel the city should have had years ago. Read all about it @wallpapermag or use the #linkinbio. Enjoy. #soundon Cover Photo: @FranParente by @scott_mitchem

This was a fun article to write, Pacaembú is one of the most amazing houses I’ve seen. Congrats on the 2024 Wallpaper* Design Award @studio.arthurcasas

@studio.arthurcasas’ Pacaembu House wins Best Urban Bolthole in Wallpaper* Design Awards 2024.

Brazilian architect Casas was asked to create a São Paulo residence that would be the owners’ primary home but with all the qualities of an idyllic retreat.

‘I only want one house. Not two. I’m not driving anywhere for the weekend,’ said the client.
Cue indoor-outdoor living space, verdant gardens, a pool, a play area, a massage room, saunas, a music room, and much more.
