This piece by Eileen is yet another of my favourites, the vibrant pop of red and the silhouettes of the trees add to what is already a beautiful, textural landscape. It somewhat reminds me of another of my favourite artists, Tracy Helgeson, who often creates reimagined landscape paintings which abstract reality with pops of vivid colours. I also especially enjoy the hidden cottage within this piece, which in its simple shape and subtle colouring could easily be missed at first glance. #scaf #scafarchive #yorkshireartists #scottcollection #painting #artconservation #heritage #artpainting #scafcollection #fineart #fineartpainting #eileenscott #arthistory #yorkshirearchive #conservation #art by @scottcreativeartsfoundation

Church in a storm, by Michael Scott, is an emotive landscape painting in oils depicting an abstracted winter landscape. The rich, dark tones take the heaviness of winter in Yorkshire and create something beautiful. I find something especially romantic about artistic representations of autumn and winter in how artists are able to shine light on beauty they see even in the darkest (or dampest in Yorkshire…) places. #painting #scaf #fineart #artconservation #scottcollection #scafarchive #artpainting #heritage #oilpainting #fineartpainting #yorkshireartists #michaelscott #scafcollection by @scottcreativeartsfoundation
