When I’m writing music - creating an environment for an idea to happen is just as important as the idea itself. It begins with finding the most efficient way to go from idea to digital recording and from there - exploring the edges of textures, reverbs, vocal layerings and audio processings that bring your world into fruition. Often times people will ask “what’s your process like?” And I’m honestly not sure how to answer. Each day is different and music comes to us in so many forms - but the making always becomes real with a recording.

“I Show Up”. My attempt at repurposing a 4 year old video I made for my music project. I wanted to write a voiceover that felt authentic to me now. To challenge this fear of self-promotion and be honest about having multiple jobs and a myriad of creative outlets. What I came up with: Just Show Up. by @scottmiddough

No fun was had during the making of this video.
Just a day in the woods with good people, an fx6, and a big window. Simple and that’s the point.

Finishing and releasing these songs feels like an entire lifetime ago, not a handful of years. It’s been a wild and beautiful ride. Happy 7th birthday to these tunes of mine.
