What an absolute pleasure it was to revive a 1950 Austin treasure with two of my dearest friends as clients @chaneldror @etarlo. Site visits turned into long hangs and our endless design discussions seamlessly wove into chats about family and real life. I think the magical final product is a direct result of the love and respect that permeated our process. And that stairwell! Va va voom!! ✨❤️‍🔥 A massive thank you to @dwellmagazine @mike.chino @melissadalton_pdx for telling the story of this project with such care. Wild to revisit the before pics! And of course thank you to the super talented 📸 @caseycdunn for the exquisite documentation. Lastly, loved working with @fortstructures to execute some tricky rooflines :) Link in bio - lets go save more special buildings! taken in Austin, Texas by @scottparks.studio

I’ve known this day was coming for weeks, but it still feels very surreal to share an article published by Architectural Digest featuring the home that Ali and I made for ourselves in Dallas. I started my studio four years ago with no expectation for what it would become, and this feels like such an affirming moment — I’m left with the deepest gratitude to the clients, makers, artists, vendors, colleagues, family and friends that continue to support my vision and help me do what I love. I look forward to continuing to push myself creatively, and to sharing more fruits of my labor in the near future. A massive thank you to @archdigest @zoesessums @_leonoraepstein and 📸 @lisapetrole for documenting this project so thoughtfully. Please go read the story, share it, and enjoy it! Eeeee! Rock Creek Drive 🏠 We asked the Best Architects in Dallas to share their picks for the Dallas houses worth preserving. Scott Parks of Scott Parks Studio says: “O’Neil Ford’s work asked a question that we are still asking today: What does it mean to make a building in Texas? When I look at 3514 Rock Creek Drive, built early in Ford’s career, I can see him grappling with local and far-flung design influences while trying to make a personal statement that also felt natural in our landscape in Dallas. After the war, Ford went on to primarily build in a midcentury modern style, which makes the house at 3514 Rock Creek Drive and his other explorations in the 1930s even more special to me.” Read more about 3514 Rock Creek Drive, and see 14 other Dallas houses worth preserving, at the link in our bio. Instead of buying new, my client had a wonderful furniture collection that we pulled from to furnish his bungalow, resulting in a project that felt layered and personal in addition to being more sustainable. Many pieces recall family stories, from the green leather sofa that belonged to @clintmurch ‘s uncle, to the painted map in the study of his great grandfather’s Hacienda de Acuna in Tamaulipas, Mexico. 📸: @lisapetrole taken in Dallas, Texas by @scottparks.studio

The entry sequence to Belmont Bungalow takes you through carefully partitioned outdoor spaces, with aged stone spheres and custom east texas cedar fences guiding you along. This arrangement is only possible because the mid-century house, unlike its 1910’s/1920’s neighbors, is set at the very back of its lot. You’re ultimately greeted by vintage doors with tons of character that we sourced via @orr_reed. By the time you’re inside, you feel as though you’ve been transported to a private refuge, which is just what our client wanted. taken in Belmont Addition, Dallas by @scottparks.studio

A bird in the sky! This project was a true exploration. My imaginative and deeply knowledgeable friend/client @clintmurch wanted to take his interest in regenerative ranching and apply that to the restoration of his special mid-century home (originally built by a Neiman Marcus shoe salesman!). The budget reflected the priorities: magnesium board walls, lambswool insulation, and plywood-free cabinets made from salvaged wood with wooden slides. For the furnishings, nearly everything came from his beloved collection, re-curated to suit the new space.

The aesthetic emerged from the project’s purpose, and I found that so beautiful. Grateful to have been involved. And huge thank you to @zoesessums and @dominomag for featuring this unique one. ❣️❣️❣️

Meet the Prairie Pendant - designed in collaboration with @muhly.studio and debuting at @afternoonlight during NYCxDESIGN (May 16-19)!

The ranch house this fixture was designed for is nestled in a beautiful prairie meadow and everything about the house is designed to resonate with this landscape, down to the lighting. In particular, galvanized steel is a common barn siding material in north texas, so it’s a natural nod to the larger context. The pendant casts a warm ambient glow above while allowing soft, playful illumination to filter through hand-punched perforations below.

Come pay it a visit at WSA. We hope to see you there. Imagery by @j_kung taken in Cooke County by @scottparks.studio
