Bill McKibben’s TED Talk from April 2026, “Our Last, Best Chance to Cool the Earth,” was the motivation for this poster. Below are highlights of Bill’s talk:

• Unlike fossil fuels which are concentrated in a few places, the sun’s energy is available everywhere.

• The Earth is producing about a third more power from the sun this spring than last.

• California, fourth largest economy in the world, now produces most days more than 100% of its electricity from renewable energy. At night…big new batteries on the grid turn dark into daylight.

• The economics are so favorable that even in the US, most new electric generation last year came from the sun and the wind. And the biggest growth was in the state of Texas, the home ground of big oil.

• America’s effort to delay this transition is not just economically stupid. It also endangers the last best hope of cooling this earth.

• 8 – 9 million people a year die from breathing the combustion byproducts of fossil fuel.

• Trump told the oil industry that if they donated huge sums, he would have their back. In his first year in office, he shut down huge wind farms off the eastern seaboard, killed solar farms across the country. (Federal district judges have ruled that the Trump administration’s Environmental Protection Agency acted unlawfully by attempting to cancel and claw back the $7 billion Solar for All grant program. –Reuters) by @scottspix

There are a lot of strategic consultants who are happy to tell you what they think you should do. Greg is one you can trust.

Greg Kueterman is a common-sense pro with decades of experience in healthcare communications and a background in journalism. He’s also a fan of the Reds, our Indy Indians, and IU football. Even more reason to like the guy.

That’s probably why corporations and non-profits keep calling Greg. He knows the process, meets deadlines, and exceeds expectations. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed. by @scottspix

Twenty years ago—one score, as Honest Abe would say—we designed our first Final Four logo for the NCAA. The men’s game was in Indy that year so there was plenty of pressure to make it a strong design, one we had to present, or “defend” when presenting it to the NCAA men’s basketball committee.

Since it was in Indy we got to see our work installed all over town, at the airport, hotels, street banners, crosswalks, the convention center and the RCA Dome—the last Final Four to take place in the Dome.

Watching the games and seeing our logo on national media was surreal. The logo’s even on the ball and the player’s uniforms. I really wanted to score one of the folding chairs on the bench.

Even when we did later Final Fours, Frozen Fours, College World Series and other national events, nothing was quite as special for me as that first one.

This weekend I’ll be enjoying the games and wishing all the best to everyone involved. I know what a big score it was for our team, one we’ll never forget. by @scottspix

My assigned movie was The Call of the Wild, specifically the 2020 release with Harrison Ford (there have been 7 releases since 1923, from Clark Gable to Rick Schroder).

This film was a little too heavy on CGI for my taste so I went with a more literary look to represent the Jack London classic.

Great to see the design community turn out to support @indyfilmfest. Kudos to @lodgedesign for managing another stellar event. by @scottspix

Life is a challenge. Whether small or large, setbacks are persistent. So we find a way, alone or with others, to make it through the rough patches. This painting is about those who find a way.

Finding a Way, 16 X 20, acrylic on canvas

After a lifetime creating representative art — figures, portraits, objects, scenes — I find myself attracted more and more to abstract art. I can’t warm up to all of it but there’s a large swath that’s appealing and I find myself thinking, “I could do that.” But when I’ve gotten the nerve to try my hand at it I discover just how difficult it can be — at least for me.

This fall I spent time in the studio trying different approaches and processes. Doing “sketch” paintings and getting messier on the canvas. Honestly, a lot of it is what the writer Anne Lamott describes as “shitty first drafts,” simply an exercise and nothing more. But I kept working at it, looking for tiny successes, better compositions, color palettes that work together. Occasionally the proverbial “happy accident” gave me hope. Finally I’m starting to not hate everything I’ve do. I still hate most of it, just not all of it. I’ve actually seen a few bits that I’m starting to enjoy. This one made it to The One Piece Show. Good friends are taking it home.
